Update Question
"Players who get KOS by shooting in the no-fire zone cannot gain faction"
WHAT?! This can't be how it sounds, could someone give me an explination...?

Ya, i'm confused, what does the man?
"...until the Kill-On-Sight flag is cleared (by leaving the sector, etc)"
You gain a temporary KOS when you shoot someone within the no-fire zone near stations. Some players were exploiting it by killing a trader NPC and gaining faction enough to stop the strike force and station defense ships from sttacking them.
Those that used this exploit and didn't immediately do a bug report should be ashamed of themselves.
Different update question: Does "Trader NPCs don't have combat licenses" mean that NPC traders are all stuck with the free battery, as all others require combat licenses?

Strange. Each time I did this, there was a strike force after me. I thought the real exploit was rather about the increased gain in standing with your nation if you killed an opposite NPC (serco/itani) in a NFZ.
And sorry RelayeR, I don't feel ashamed at all to have used this trick to get this last standing point. I can't keep track of the times I have been destroyed by serco forces, pursued transports down to Catequil Outpost and sometimes outplayed superior enemies to bring every bit of purified xithricite in Coranis Watch that I could - all of this with far less gain in standing than I would get by killing collector bots or NPCs in Atlas(!) in friendly space. The whole standing thing would deserve a bug report atm. Which would be no news to the Devs I think.

Sun Tzu, yes, that is correct. The exploit part of this is when you shoot an enemy while in the NFZ and then gain just enough faction with your nation (the nation you're temporarily KOS with) to call off the strike force/station guard.
One example was a serco shooting at and killing an itani next to a serco station.

I set trader NPCs combat license to 0 until we resolve the issue of NPCs not giving combat XP.
Actually, I exploited this, and I did report...
(the first time I tried to report it was uhum, some time ago)
Anyone who finds something like this do the decent thing, it isnt right, and I would gladly have my Serco faction reset to +982 (what it was before I started playing with this bug)...

I exploited this in a slightly different way, and reported it. After I was safe and secure at +1000 again, of course. :P
I don't feel guilty about it, though, it was a bug that brought it down to +82 and a bug that let it back up to +1000...
