Yep, as I said the left-to-right motion "pops out" while the right-to-left "pops in". It kinda led me to start thinking about what kind of interesting camera sequences could be produced to make the most of this effect in an animation or movie - you could do interesting panning and rotation shots while maintaining a certain level of motion to maximize it.

But I've never really perceived 3D in a cinema as you describe except for, like, the Terminator 2 thing at Universal City Studios, where you have polarized lenses. I still think the "lagged image" explanation makes the most sense.

The actual halftime show was totally lame, but the intro animation was pretty cool.
