To answer an assertion

Mar 01, 2005 Shapenaji link
I want to counter an assertion made earlier here, that proms don't do well against multiple ships. Now, its true that it is possible to use 2 cents to attack a single prom and win.

But try it against 2 prom pilots who are covering eachother's backs.

this was the situation today, as 6 members of [BL] (tram, myself, Petarius, Holden Caulfield, and TNA) took on M.Duncan + Millenium Blackhawk of the [VPR]. We all flew Rev C's with the exception of one pilot ( I forget who) who flew a vult mk III.

We managed to succeed, a fair amount of the time. But usually 1-2 of were killed/ had to flee and repair. And we were perpetually at/under 20% health.

One prom you can gang up on, but as soon as there are 2, the second prom moves around the outside picking off attackers... If anyone gets close the rocketram is devastating.

Furthermore, the prom is VERY forgiving, it may be that you ping them a little bit. But they do far more damage.

The AGT can be used with skill, but it doesn't require it. The same can be said of rockets. The fact that 2 ships doing this were capable of taking on a fair portion of our guild is indicative of this.

To counter, N3's require skill to be useful, at all. You can't start dodging and forget to aim.

Furthermore, we weren't pulling our usual light fighter techniques, we were keeping our distance, its just that skycommands can DODGE.

The problem with fighting someone at that range, is that you don't have a very high hit percentage, and they can just turn and attack the guy attacking their friend.

EDIT: I know the update is comin out tonight, this is merely a statement of an interesting situation that occurred that caused me to question an argument in favor of the Rev C vs Prom matchup.

I fought a SkyCommand in my SVG and won. It was scary, though, because the pilot didn't fall into any of the "normal" anti-Prom traps that I tried. I had something like 2% at the end.
SCP dodges fast enough that N3s are definitely necessary...

on the other hand though imagine going up against a tank in 6 scooters with a 6mm. I don't see a reason for them to go down at all...

However if you go at them with anti-tank bazookas loaded on a person or a medium tank then you'll be able to take it out. While the scooters are able to easilly take out the medium tank or the anti tank bazooka person...

I just hope that the hornet gets some usuability in this regard by using the 4 weaponports as anti-tank bazookas..., and being able to absorb somewhat the damage that scps inflict and being somewhat able to dodge the rest. While if you see a hornet going against a wisp (sp!) like the ibg or a revc it will have a way harder time (although skill should always prevails...).

cheers

Yes Shape. I agree with you. 2 Proms CAN be dangerous if the pilots have some clue and stick to the "plan". Specially like in this case a swarm of the some of the very best BL pilots against Millenium Blackhawk and me. This was an extremely exciting and insightful battle. It had me sweating and my adrenalin very high. I wish there was a way to record scenes or to playback past battles in order to analyze it.

This was a memorable!
