Vendetta Rated By PC Gamer
I dont know if anyone else has posted this, but yesterday I recieved the March 2005 PC Gamer Magazine, and inside on page 66 at the bottom was a review of Vendetta Online.
PC Gamer gave the rating a fairly strong 68% rating overall. Hailing it's $10 a month rate (lower than the typical $30), and it's ability to be run on lower end machines as well as higher end.
I just wanted to share my congradulations with the Dev Team, and the other Testers on helping to get this game such a high percentage rating in PC Gamer! Keep up the good work all and if you happen to come across a March PC Gamer, pick it up and read the Vendetta review, it's 1/2 a page but you can knock it out pretty quickly.

Damn, I was actually hoping PC Gamer would stay away from Vendetta for a bit. Hopefully they'll review it again in the future... I wonder if my copy's come yet...
Well PC gamer is really a critical magazine, if a game stinks they will give it a very bad rating.
They wont review it again.
I go to mmmorpg.com for online games reviews. Vendetta scores pretty high there considering its size and scope.
Once player-controlled Capital ships come out, I could see Guild and/or Strategy First maybe spinning it as a big expansion w/ a new box & updated dead-tree manual. Big expansions like that are fairly often re-reviewed.
They gave us a 68%. Considering how they have trashed other games in the past, that actually is pretty good. We do have a great game here, and it's just getting better.
Keep up the fantastic work Devs :)
Cheers!

Any guesses as to whether Guild was consulted before their masterwork was tossed into a bargain pack as a giveaway?
I did know that it would eventually be put into a bargain pack. It doesn't matter all that much to us, really, just so long as the game is "out there" and people are potentially trying it.
I don't like it....
I don't like it much either, as it makes Vendetta look cheap, but if you OK'd it, I suppose it's fine.
Ick, another reason to hate Gamespot...
I wonder how many of the people buying the 6+1 pack will know that VO requires a monthly fee? Or even what it is? Those packs suck. No offense John, but they really do. They have a strong connotation of outdated games.
VO has great potential, I played for a while but found it to empty compared to other MMO type games availible on PC which I play and ended up going back to them mainly for the large communitys and content (I got to a point where I couldnt find anything to do other than kill Bots and PvP if i could find anyone), I think maybe VO was released to early and lacked any PR.
Some magazines can be harsh, but for an online game to become BIG it has to have adverts all over the place and really need to be scoring reviews with 80% and up to convince people to spend money on it :(

VO was released when it was because more funds were needed in order to continue to develop it. Other methods of fundraising hadn't panned out. The lack of PR at this stage is deliberate. Who needs a bunch of reviews saying the game isn't finished?
People who expect a completely finished game might be a bit disapointed, but I like the fact that we regularly get new goodies to try out. And the fact that our suggestions actually mean something!
