Hello,
I have been playing for a little while now and could use some advice on what ship and weapons to use. My current license levels are 3/3/2/1/0. I am flying a Vulture. I have one other ship, a Wraith MkIII, with much more cargo space. I am trying to kill the Apu-Tech 5, and the TyCorp Assaults, to work on my next license levels. What I am wondering is if I should go with 2 small weapon ports and one large weapon port, or four small weapon ports? Which is the best combo in terms of weapons?
As for trading, is it worth going into Gray space to get better trade deals? Could I survive at the current levels am I at? Is there a certain stat level where the bots become meaningless in terms of combat?
Thank you for any advice anyone can provide.

The vulture is far and away better for botting - its small profile is perfect for avoiding shots, just be careful to always face your enemy.
The Wraith is the best cargo ship currently available to you. It is strong and carries enough weapons to make a fair showing in combat.
For now, ignore the Hornet. Once it is rebalanced (probably in the next update, judging from how things are going), it will prove a good fighter. Its four weapons ports are devastating, but drain your battery quicker than an Serco can chug motor oil.
At these levels, you could probably survive and do well for yourself in grey space, so long as you remember that you are in the wild. If anyone comes after you, run run run. If they kill you, take it in stride, as that is the cost of operating in a war zone. Don't cuss them out, as that just leads to worse problems.
Oh yeah, and until you hit at least Combat 5, I'd steer clear of the Corvus Prime stations in the south.

also, tycorps are easier than the aputech's much easier i find
thanks, i will take note to wait until level 5 before going to corvus prime.
I beg to differ on when you should go to Corvus. I've been going to Corvus since combat 2 and I've only gotten killed a few times. Just be sure to plot your course around sectors with asteroids and get out of WH sectors as quickly as possible (remember, if it starts shooting at you or following you...run).
Well, yeah, feel free to go to corvus, but we won't take it easy on a trader ship just cuz you're new. So be prepared to die a bit :P.
Other than that, happy exploring!

I went down to corvus as soon as I could get the medium battery, it gave me enough juice to safely escape ion storms. I went and flew trade missions around there for like 2 weeks and only got ripped once. I did die a couple of times from my own stupidity, but that can be a good way to learn.
