From PC GAMES ( bad review part)
http://pc.ign.com/articles/579/579297p1.html
<< The real problem with VO becomes prominent after you play it for ten hours or so. There are missions, there is pointless mining, there is PvP… but what else is there? The missions don't feel like you're doing anything. In modern MMOs, quests tend to feel like you're making a difference, or you at least give you a big reward for your efforts. Missions in VO simply give you an excuse to blow crap up, which you can do by going to a bot-filled sector anyway. The rewards for missions are all experience and money, but never items or weapons.
In short, there's just not much to do. The game feels like one big grind, especially without crafting. You'll play, and you'll sample everything, but the question of that will be nagging you is, "Why?" The only semblance of a change to the universe is the fact that when you trade with stations, supply and demand come into play. So, you can't get rich with a single trade route like you could with Freelancer, but that's about it. >>

It's been said before: I really want to like this game. Heck, I really want to love this game. I want this game to suck away hours--nay, months--of my life as I explore an endless universe and meet all kinds of players who work together to build to a common goal.
But this is not this game. Not at the moment, anyway. It has great support, and the developers really listen to their players. The thing is, there aren't a whole lot of players right now; not enough to really populate the almost excessively large universe. And considering the game has been out for several months now, the community is probably not going to get too much larger.
These reviews are nothing if not honest. There are much worse ways to spend $10/month. And because of how much the developers listen to its community (something I really like no matter what game or genre we're talking about), then perhaps, in time, VO will rival EverQuest II and World of Warcraft in terms of fun and expansiveness.
Right now, however, VO is simply not worth the price. If you have a bunch of time and money to spare and don't want to deal with Star Wars: Galaxies, then VO may be a worthy investment. To the casual gamer though who just wants to be among a bunch of other players in the same game, almost every other MMO is recommended over this one. >>

i agree about the lack of goals.
once you are high level and have worked all standing around there is nothing to do after. (why? to get special ships and weapons. but after?)
example for a fighter like me:
- i leveled to have better ships, weapons and stuffs.
- worked my standing in orion corvus... to use their ships, weapons and stuffs...
- made enought moneys to buy ships (enought to pvp)
After : i tried to focus on CtC (pvp part)
but CtC need a big fix coz lack of interest and lack of players involved in it... quick boring.
the multi nation guild is also a problem .
Able to make a guild with players from itani and serco (in the same guild) is a big mistake.
Allowing serco (working standing) in itani space is also a problem. (same in the other side)
serco or itani or UIT = no difference.
question is why made 3 different nations with 1 neutral (UIT) so?

would like to see VO like this :
- Serco goal = "destroy" itani => missions (assassination, border patrol, CtC...)
- Itani goal = "destroy" Serco => missions (assassination, border patrol, CtC...)
- While UIT is a nation for players that want only to "explore" all the game (stay away from PvP (...) and able to travel everywhere) but in need able to get involved on the itani or serco side Battle.

All right. Let's put up a bounty for PyroFalkon!
This review was unnecessarily harsh.
And I find it somewhat of poor taste to grab images from VO's screenshot library and slap their web site logo on it. They've chosen older images from the beta days, even. Like a cap ship exploding. Sheesh.

So many words to say what we already know: Vendetta is a work in progress.
Oh well, at least they get paid for their time.

I'm UIT. I've explored EVERYTHING. Including PVP.
There isn't too much "important story missions", because unlike other MMO's, we're against each other.

Ya, that's true, lots of MMO's tend to have you killing "critters" and only "critters"(bots essentialy). And mostly everyone is against some computer controlled enemy. Whereas in vendetta, there is well....a vendetta between two nations, the itani and the serco. These reviewers spend too much time playing crappy turn based MMO's(WoW,EQ,etc). Vendetta is pretty damn orginal, and it as FM said, A WORK IN PROGRESS!!! DO THESE PEOPLE READ!!!
*sigh*
Vendetta kicks butt, and it will continue to kick more and more butt, that's my review.
(P.S. Keep up the good work devs, dont let the reviewers get you down...they just don't know how you guys do(a little ghetto speak ) )

probably the reason why most of us (VO players) keep playing it's because :
- the developers listen to its community.
- the game look good and could be far better. (work in progress)
-> read and heard about the visions of the developers and have complete faith in them.
In the end a good game will lure more (enought) players.

Plus, these guys don't realive that since the devs are constantly updating the game, it shows how easily features can be added. I mean look at mining. They designed an entitrely new thing. I mean, they probaly had to write a completely new huge chunk of code to make mines mineable. That went off without much of a hitch. These reviewers really need to take more time with these games.
reading and testing other space ship games (MMORPG) around.
tested EVE long time ago (beautifull game but very slow and no real pvp)
testing Jump To LigthSpeed (starwars)(it suck really)
well Vendetta Online is on the top atm.

They are right, there isnt much to do. All that 'stuff to do' in WoW etc is the result of thousands of hours of work carefully designed to provide a pleasurable experience.
The only other way to have 'stuff to do' is to have a dynamic environment that creates itself. Thats what PvP is, or exploring for ore, or somewhat the bots and economy routes.

I try to not say much but sometimes I feel it necessary.
I read that review before I downloaded the game. Most times, when a review comes in around 6.5, I try to give it a shot because those are the sleeper hits. I have played almost every MMORPG, from Lineage 2, EQ2, WoW, Galaxies, does the list ever end?
But none of them were like the experience of playing this game. This is the game I have been waiting for. The first time I logged in, it was a fun experience, and I have not stopped playing. I am nowhere close to some of the leves the more experienced players are at, but I am good enough to know if the game has depht or not, and it does.
So to close, these reviews actually embolden me to try the game being reviewed. I hope that more people will give it a try because the game is worth it, and seeing the devs respond in the way they do is amazing!! I have recruited two people to play and will keep doing so. In Game - Utemir Bessanna. Also, the full review gives much more credit to VO in the opening paragraphs. The person who reviewed this for IGN actually says that he wanted to love this game. I am a programmer and if this is the project that Guild wants to be their baby, time will not matter, only the quality of the content they provide.

I would have to agree with the reviewers statements about the game. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done, and unfortunately, reviews of this nature will only stop or hinder new players from checking out the game. I agree that crafting should be added as well as a much much much more imersive quest system, "QUEST" system, not mission, meaning that you should get a feel like your doing something that has a purpose other then filling your coffers or building your faction, but something that will affect the univers or at least a system in the near future. I do however feel that there has been a LOT of great suggestions about how this game could be made better and that they only need to be introduced into the game to make it that much better. It's really too bad that there is only 4 dev's for this game.
Id Software had 10 employees when they made DOOM (the shareware version). I think that it's amazing what Guild has done with 4.
It's probably helpful that reviews say that Vendetta isn't done in that people won't show up expecting a glossy product. This is why there isn't any significant marketing happening now. Saying it here is a little like announcing that "Vendetta" starts with a "V".
Guild has said that Vendetta is a work in progress, that there is much that they plan to add in order to realize their vision for it, and that the game will probably never been "done" because they plan to keep adding content. It's a living game, instead of some finite thing that we'll all race to complete and then wander away from.

One or two MMORPGs I played before this one got boring quick, because of what I call the Space Chicken factor:
Essentially all you do is navigate a map, collecting [or killing] some item, which I call the Space Chicken. Doesn't matter what it is, it's basically just a chicken running around waiting for you to be fast enough or strong enough to kill it, and there's an endless supply of Space Chickens. To level up, collect 100 Space Chicken Ones. Then, at level 2, you've got to kill 200 Space Chicken Twos, ad infinitum, ad nauseam. That's what EverQuest was like, and that's what Anarchy Online was like.
At least in this game, you get to fly, almost like a flight sim, and shoot, very much like a FPS, while you collect your quota of Space Chickens. Ultimately, the Space Chicken factor must be replaced by something more compelling, or I'll get bored and quit. The more player-to-player interactions this game provides, the lower the Space Chicken Factor tends to be [as long as our interactions aren't just conversations about where to get the best Space Chickens]. How is VO going to bring the Space Chicken factor down? I am interested to see what will happen.

add capital ship.
bring for more fun in CtC (more rewards and a restriction on it)
=> more battlse / goals / PvP.
Medals + a special weapons or ships in mission accomplissement in Assassination, Border patrol, Spy mission, Mining and Trade.
example 10 missions = first medal
100 missions = second medal + a special weapon
500 missions = third medal + special ship
more fun in missions.
add new missions.
more recorded stats on website (players kill, bounty kill, players medals(Title)...)
i think devs are planning to do something like this or better :o)
that's why we are in here.

When ever a game is out and charging for access the reviewers consider it a "finished project" additions to an online game content and even game changes are expected nowadays. I have to agree that it needs more story based quests, earth and beyond had this in abundence. However the only real competition for this game is StarWars Galaxies which is not only more expensive but if you read the review of this game on pc games it isn't much better. EVE isn't much competition since it isn't twitch based combat. I do enjoy the game however and with some more story based active guilds (the itani have never mounted an attack in our space which it seems like they could easily do-I think it will improve greatly)
Out of curiosity where has the developers vision been outlined haven't seen it myself. Thanks!

Well, some of it's in the In Progress section (in the menubar to the left). The rest can be summed up in a single word: "0wn". :D
This Game needs more players, plain and simple.
Since I've been there as well, might want to comment on this too. Yes VO feels like a big grind when you've done everything. Doing missions does not make you fell special for example. That's part of why you don't see me flying around everyday like I used to back in December.
I long for the day I can be The Frigate Killer, for example, or The Mobile Fortress of Kallisti, dammit :D
