6 Months
A thought just occured to me...since I've joined VO it seems like whenever someone asks "how long til capital ships come out?" the answer is always 6 months. its now been at least 3 months since I bought my first month, and I haven't yet heard "3 months to go!"
Are people just not talking about it enough when I'm online, or are we all stuck in some bizarre sci-fi tale where TIME DOES NOT PASS in terms of capital ships, but goes all too quickly when our billed month ends...? (I'm just kidding, I love the billing system. /me hugs billing system)
Seriously though, is it 6 or 3 months? Or 5.5 months because of delays?

From the In Progress section:
"The capital ship is still in development. It's fundamentally functional (as much as it used to be, in the alpha), but Ray is now working on making it jump properly between sectors, some technical caveats relating to its scale, as well as some capital-specific reworking of AI and other things. Once it's ready to be truly used in a mission, you'll see it appear."

We're working on the cap ships. It's coming. I think we'll be on target for our "6 month" ballpark, but we'll see.
remember in the version alpha in sector 9 to have had battles
impressionantes and delirious with the capital vessel. I think that a
little patience to have a different turning in the play is not a
luxury, but good direction because you will not be disappointed.

Try fighting 4 queens at once by yourself with energy weapons. Seeing about 100 streaks of light miss you by 10 meters should give u a litte taste of capital ship fighting.
Except i don't think you'll be able to take a capital ship in a cent..... :)
Unless an entire squadron of cents warps at it?
Whilst on the subject, I seriously hope that something is done that prevents a capital ship from being taken out by any less than four or five moderately skilled players. I also hope that something will prevent every player in the game with a million credits from getting one. Making combat capital ships guild-owned is a good plan, I think.

Or cost 50million.
In that case, I've got 48 million more to go :o). Unless Chao gets back and fronts the rest of the cash... *ponders & prays*
