Given that the game was in test status for so many years, I'd call it a reflexive typo rather than any type of freudian slip.

I dunno what you're reading, but mine says Vendetta Online 1.1.8. If they did make a typo, it was probably their automagic-news-generating-script thingy. As to the rest of your points, let me just say this. I far prefer to play a game which is constandly updated and improved rather than one where the devs have said "we released it, it's done, we're not doing anything else". Change is good, my friend.

A agree wholeheartedly with rougelazer. What makes Vendetta a great game is it's changes and additions.

Also, the test server would be a great idea. It would allow a mix of people to test out new ideas and provide feedback without using the entire Vendetta population as guinea pigs because lets face it, if something does get released to everyone (e.g. the Trade Guild missions) and it's exploitable, then it's the people who are online at the time the patch is released that gets an unfair advantage over everyone else.

2000 subscribers does not mean they all have to be online at the same time.

I pay because I like the direction they are going in and want to finance their efforts to continue making this an awesome game and make their dreams come to fruition. It's no secret that the game is not done yet. That's why the download is free and the monthly is low. I could have used the money instead to buy some static, dead game that I would have mastered in a week or two. Vendetta keeps growing. I like that. So feel free choose not to sign up. I don't mind that you will have benefitted from my investment of time and money when you do eventually return - but kindly avoid dissuading others who might feel as I do.

And keep in mind that they probably would have let me be on for free had I asked.

As the game is in part a simulation, let's consider what happens in real life. I am pretty happy with my 1997 Honda Civic, and in the abstract would consider buying another one. However, I drove a 2004 Civic on rental and didn't like it at all. So I'd have to consider a different model or make next time around.

In other words, I don't like Honda's latest upgrade, but I would still consider buying another car from them if I like it. Even Honda is effectively testing and revising in the open market. Now if they would only add infiboost...
