Following bots back to the hive
Has anyone tried following the mining bots back to their hive queens? Cause they almost ALWAYS either are coming towards you to attack, or look like they are leaving, only to go to a asteroid and mine it for ever and ever, and then probaly move to another one(I never stuck around for that long). So has anybody done this? And if so, how. I'd really like to try it, as queens are fun to use a missile fodder. :)
Yeah, I did it. I made sure a bot was after me, then I targeted a mining bot and flew around for five minutes until the mining bot took off. I had never seen a queen, so I was willing to put in the extra effort.
I did it too. Try it in a sector full of collectors and nothing else. Especially the weaker ones, since they don't seem to gang up on you. It does take a while for one of the mining bots to leave the sector, but it's worth the effort I think. Be prepared to run from the queen and her guards though, they are the highest level bots, and will follow you relentlessly once they spot you. (Orun Guardians, Prosus Assaults, etc)
Yep, you have to make sure you allready have a bot after you, so the bot you're following doesn't attack you. Then you just follow it around. Make sure you don't lose the bot that's after you, or the bot that you're following will attack you and you have to start over.
The hive queen and the posse aren't as bad as they look. Backrolling works most of the time, and a bit of a diagonal boost to get some distance will assure success.
So it begs the question: how tough is the Queen? Can one ship, properly outfitted take her down? Does it require a gang of 4 ships? Do we have any stats on queen armour, or is it just a matter of avoiding the assault bots?
Even a poor pilot like me can take a queen down with any basic ship, FC battery and any energy weapon. Or they changed the Queen+bots' IA. You do not even need to repair if you are cautious and patient.
It takes a bit of practice not be blown up by the queen explosion though :)
Try it!

I was down botting and got lucky, I saw an arty leave the sector to D 12. Long story short I think this is a great addon, and I enjoyed killing yet another queen.
Backrolling and patience are the key to killing a queen and her minions. i find the best method is genka's method. I beat the queen and the other bots solo in a centurion mk3 with 1) rails 2)neutmk3 and 3)gauss. its very easy when you know how :)
how does backrolling work?
