Avalon Torpedoes?

Paedric, why should serco have avalons? They shouldn't, as they won't have an itani cap ship to fire them at. The first cap ship in the retail release will be serco's, and itani is supposed to kill it. Therefore the avalon is completely useless for them.

The Avalon was not a proximity weapon. It needed to impact to detonate. I did catch a Ragnarok coming out of the s13 station in the war. That's the only time I've seen one detonate on a ship that wasn't motionless.

As to the Frigate and Avalons, they were only good against the turrets. It took 3 Avalons to knock out all the turrets and those 3 did very little damage to the hull.

It was a 5m proximity, actually.

Thank God for Roguelazer.

I sometimes wonder what I would do without him.

We'd actually probably all be utterly lost. Because, you know, he provides all of that enlightening and useful information all of the time.

why not just make it so that only 1 type of ship for each faction can use the torp? as in real life there are only a few specalised bombers and fewer still attack planes can carry large scale weapons. So they need serious fighter support so that tehy can deliver their weapons. If the torp is slow enough, and if the damage was more of a focused affect as opposed for a nuke, you could create an anti cap ship weapon. you wouldn't go after a zodiac with a torp, you'd never hit it. But if uuou make it hard enough for the torp to kill, then it coudl work IMHO

"They shouldn't, as they won't have an itani cap ship to fire them at."

Not true at all. There are several serco that are hated by serco that could attack it.

It doesn't make sense to me why the Itani do not have the frigate. The serco have the "bomber" don't they? Well I guess the Devs know what they're doing.

How bout no huge nukes, just large 'fusion torpedos' or something, that have HUGE damage, low speed and hardly any blast radius (certainly nothing bigger than, say, a screamer) and can only be carried by rags, taking up both large slots. Ammo of say 5. Detonate on contact. Very large weight.

That way the attackers would have to escort ships like this (or cargo carriers if the cool 'marines' idea is done as well) to the frigate to attack, and the other team would have to kill the bombers before they could fire.

And yeah it really should be serco attacking an itani frigate. In the background serco didn't go in for capital ships as much as they hadn't developed that technology as fast as the itani ('the abbot's transport was the largest ship the serco had ever seen'), and the serco are better suited to attacking with bombers and stuff, while the itani have the nimble fighters to take down the bombers.

Serco would have a cap ship due to the fact that they are more aggressive than the itani(in the backstory),are war mongers, and since they got owned by our 3 ladies cannons, i'd think that they where kinda pissed. They went back after their best fighter got his butt kicked by 200+ year old itani monk, and worked on a humongous capital ship to get revenge on the itani, now, 2 years later(is it 2 years, or 1 since them?)they have finished and are planning on destroying the itani people.

And for the serco our there who think I'm being one sided, I am but I DO know this. Itani started the war by refusing civil negotians with the serco. There I said it because it's true. You're welcome :)

Oh ya avalons would be cool, I never got to see them, but they sound awesome!

We started a war by refusing to negotiate with ourselves? 0_o And pho, I think that *if* it were restricted that would mean it's only sold at Itani nation stations. Not that a red player can't use them, period, the way the UIT seem to have it with the N3.
