prometheus found in space
hahaha… good one! =)
So....the prometheus is a potato shaped moon? the serco really did go nuts with the genetics huh! :D marvellous technology!

Uh... So the Serco had reaches as far back as Greek mythology too? And the Itani have ties to Norse mythology? Dang!
Really, I was surprised about companies with the names Serco and Itani, and somewhat less surprised with a company whose acronym happens to be UIT, but Prometheus is a name from Greek mythology and I'm NOT surprised that it is also the name of an one of the moons of Saturn. Prometheus, among other things, gave fire back to man after Zeus took it away. He was punished by being taken into the mountains where once a day, a vulture would eat his liver, and subsequently the liver would grow back for the next day.
And off the top of my head, the Valkyrie are characters from Norse mythology (if I remember correctly), the warthog is a real animal (and an American attack aircraft), the wraith was the name for an undead creature in old Scottish mythology (okay, I had to look that one up), the Centurion was a Roman military rank, the vulture is named for a carrion bird, the hornet is a stinging insect, the Atlas is from Greek mythology (I'm pretty sure he wasn't Roman), the Centaur is a half-man/half-horse race from Greek mythology, Ragnarok was a battle in Norse mythology (or was it a place?), and I don't know the origins of the word "Marauder," but it's been around for a long time (there are car engines, WWII bombers, and many other things named "Marauder").

Atlas:
In greek mythology, he was the leader of the Titan uprise against Zeus. After they lost, he got punished by Zeus and from now on, he had to "keep heaven and earth separated". Or, to put it simpler: He was the one to carry the sky :)

Celkan:I would only say that a centurion wasn't ANY Soldier of the legion. It was a very specific rank.
Weasel: Are you sure it was Atlas that led it? I thought someone else was the ringleader.

it is nice to see we are all well educated here.
I'm pretty sure that the Centurion was a rank somewhat akin to a Captain. I'm almoost certain that the name of the rank comes from the fact that he was in charge of 100 troops.
A Decurion commanded 10 soldiers. A Centurion commanded a Centuria, which was 10 groups of Decurion-led soldier (probably called a Decuria or something akin).
Look into the origin of "decimation".
Now THAT's discipline!

Pontius Pilate: Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly!
You a Monty Python fan, FM? They've got a good decimation skit...
