Target Info & other questions
Hello all,
I've been playing this game in the trial mode for about 4hr and so far its been great. I do have a few questions that I did search on and read the manual but cant find answers to to.
1) What does the "star" next to the player name mean in the target info box?
2) When I turn flight assist off, I can no longer use the slider on my Logitec freedom for throttle control. Is this a feature or bug?
3) When I'm fighting "bots" (ore collectors)they seem to always ram me. This in turn eventually kills me. Is that how they are supposed to defend themselves? They seem to ram less often if I turn off flight assist.
Thanks
Vetie

In response to your questions:
1. A player name preceded with a * is an NPC or bot, not a human player.
2. This is probably due to the way that Vendetta uses the throttle. With Flight Assist on, your ship effectively has a throttle for forward movement. With the assist turned off, you are no longer restricted to flying your ship as if it were a plane, so a throttle makes less sense. However, playing with the control options may give you a way to use it again.
3. I assume you are trying to circle strafe around the bot in some fashion when you get rammed. With flight assist on, if you don't come to a stop before engaging a bot, you will still have some forward component to your motion, so technically, you are ramming the bot. When you turn off flight assist, once you start circling the bot, you will no longer be accelerating towards the bot unless you specifically thrust towards it. The bots usually try to maintain a certain distance, unless you force it to do otherwise.
Hope this has been helpful. If you have other questions, post again, or look for me (Pilot Handle: Nerde Verde) and others in game.

With the ramming bots, there *is* some sort of an AI problem somewhere (though greengeek's explanation seems to apply more to you than this one does). I've found that if I'm mining and am very very close to the roid, the bots won't shoot at me anymore. Instead... they'll try to ram me. It can get very annoying when you get quadrupule-teamed with ramming bots...
2. Had this problem myself when finally getting to botting again and trying it with a joystick - with flight assist off, you have 6 full movement (up to max speed) directions (w forward/ s backward/ a left/ d right/ r up/ f down) which you can use individually or combined - a single wheel on the stick can't just take them all :)
Just learning to kill Tycorp assaults all over again myself...
For botting, go for flight assist off and learn movement control with your left hand on the keyboard, start strafing left and right to avoid the shots of the bots. The earlier you manage the freedom of movement in 6 directions the easier it'll be later with the nastier bots.
