The Trade Missions ...

Nov 30, 2004 twist3r link
Since one of the Updates (i think it was the one 7 days ago) there is only one kind of Cargo Mission, the "We need someone to bring us XXX."

Before, there were many different kinds of CargoMissions. Like, Bringing stuff back, just as now, but also thing like, deliver that to there, search for this kind of ore and so on. I think it was a lot more exciting before, so i'm asking, are you planning to make the TradeMissions more different again?

I have been on dozens of cargo missions since the last release, and they have been of several different kinds, including 'deliver this to xyz', 'fetch xyz from pdq', 'fetch n crates, there are some for sale in xyz', and 'fetch n crates from xyz, but we cant contact our people there so buy them yourself', and etc. The 'prospect for this mineral' has been under 'prospecting missions' not 'cargo missions'.

Some stations only have a few missions, not cargo missions...??

if you ever fail a trade mission, the next three-four missions will be "we can't get in touch with our agents, go buy us <N> <foo>. We think there are some in <place>"

Spider says true. If this is the case you will need to run some more of those missions in order to get back into good graces for trading. You might also try moving your trading into your nation's home sectors.

actually i just tried what spider said and it is not true, as far as i can tell. im UIT with 610 faction on a certain corporation, and license 8 trade. last night i went on and failed a couple of missions on purpose to test your theory.

nothing happened. i lost 1 or 2 faction points. but i kept getting the same old 'deliver this to abc' or 'go pick up that at xyz' missions.

furtheremore, i dont know what you are talking about, moderator, as far as 'good graces' goes. it seems that no matter how many i fail to complete, it seems that i only loose 0.5 or 1 faction point, and i keep getting the same type of mission no matter my past performance. it also seems that all trade missions give basically the same faction points, no matter how far you are supposed to go or how difficult it is to get there. what does 'good graces' give you?

if spider's theory were true, i would be able to get 800 faction in much less time, because you can stockpile those goods at a station and just leave/re-enter and say 'look i delievered the goods'... get 7 faction, fail a mission, loose 1 faction, repeat.

"furtheremore, i dont know what you are talking about, moderator, as far as 'good graces' goes."

Nice.

I can tell you from my own experience from a few weeks ago that when I failed a few missions (losing cargo before it can be delivered) I received only missions that requested me to go somewhere, purchase cargo on my own, and return with it. Perhaps my faction standing was more marginal than yours, and so my experience was different. At any rate, it took several missions where I had to "buy my own" before I was trusted with cargo on "spec" again.

That is exactly what I experianced.
So perhaps a move to "bugs"? If ananzi is right, he have a bug there... ?

hey bro i didnt mean it in a negative way. i could have written it more diplomatically, my bad

ananzi, Spider says true, and so do you. If you have over 600 standing then the station is more eager to overlook the failure of the mission.

i did ... 10-20 trade missions in a row, from different stations, and i didnt have one which was not called 'bring us back _____' ONCE.

twist3r, these 10-20 missions, were they all for the same faction? Perhaps you had a very marginal standing with the faction that gave you the mission you failed. Check your standing please.

Most of them were Serco, where i have a standing around +1000. At least one was XangXi and another one was corvus.

I failed a cargo mission when I joined a group mid-mission. I lost faction standing (several points) and have to do the buy the goods with your own money missions. Faction standing at the time was under 100.

i just did a 'abort mission' thing, faction was at 670 or so. i lost 50 points of faction, and then i got a 'go buy x' mission, which i simply did from my stockpile of goods at the station. however, after 1 or 2 of these i was back to the 'go to station abc' missions.
