hailing NPCs

Nov 24, 2004 Thrangar link
Ok I know it works I have had others do it ,and they say it works.I have tried binding the key "h" but it wont work,I target them and h and nothing.

Do I have to be on a certain channel to see their responce?

I have manually written in the command in my wgaf file but it still wont work! I must be doing it wrong.

Could some one please copy and paste the correct command so I can put it in my wgaf file.

its
/alias hail "/msg %target% Your text goes here"
/bind h "hail"

Its not really for hailing NPC's, but for sending a private hail (i think its meant as a convinient way to open private chat)

In my wgaf.cfg I have:
alias hail "activatechattab 0; msg %target% Hail"
bind "h" hail

Their response comes into your mission computer. I don't know if they respond to any string, or only to Hail.
One of these day's I'm gonna get around to writing down some of their binary responses and see if it actually means anything....

I cut and paste all that into my wgaf file?

that looks like something I would put into the console line

I have tried the /bind h "hail" in the console it doesnt work

I was hoping some one could look at their wgaf file and paste it here so I could do the same in mine
I spent 2 fing hours trying to get this to work.

If i see one more "not an accepted command" I am going to freek!

The reason you are geting the *error* is because you have to set up an alias. Yes, I missed out the activatechattab 0, as i hate it switching tabs on me, and yes, you could type /alias hail "blah de blah" in the console, or paste Beolachs into your wgaf file =)

[Edit]
They reply to any private message, mines not hail, has not been since beta,...

Heh, what do you use? "Assimilated you will be. Futile resistance is, yes."?

well I got him to respond he says 000011011111000111

guess I need a binary translator lol

Still I appreciate your time and answers

Not all NPCs will respond in binary. Friendly traders tell you what they are doing. My favorite is enemy traders beg you not to kill them.

[edit] Oh, and 000011011111000111 translates to: ñ [/edit]

the bots can tell you where they are going, and what they are trying to do :).
I like the feature that has the bot tell you how many other bots are trying to kill you.
