is there any way in game to see who is online from your nation?
I haven't seen any benifits in game to group with other players, I also find it rather difficult to even find other players to try and do something with

when IRC bot is on, it used to be that you could see whoever was online by messaging it. Now, with the lists of players becoming so large, that's not a feasible option.
There probably is/will be a team channel.
