What's coming up for VO?
Is there a blog or something anywhere on the site where I can read what you guys are planning on bringing into VO now that's released (something more long term then "In Progress" section). Any plans for crafting or more mountable items like cloaks, ecm/eccm, etc?
Unless you're in the IRC channel (#vendetta on irc.slashnet.org) 24/7 and logging the conversations, In Progress is really all you've got.
I think the devs are going to start using the In Progress page a bit more... we used to have to pester them to get them to update it.

Well I'm sure they're kinda plenty busy ;)
I read a post somewhere saying that the next thing they're working on in the in-game news.. showing trade prices, most wanted list, etc.
However, I'm even looking for something even farther ahead. Like in 1-2 months. The only reason I say is that I'm loving the game so far. Simple yet intuitive interface, runs great, and while it's fun right now I can see with the current content level I could get bored pretty quick. But if I know some interesting content is coming up, then it's worth waiting for :)

Capital ships are out in about 6 months I think...
We're also very excited about what we have coming in the next few
weeks, including:
In-game news system: Headline / Article system which will tie into
everything from item prices at distant stations (items in demand or on
sale) to the Most Wanted list of bounties set by each Nation on the heads
of the most dastardly enemy pirates and marauders. Duel outcomes.
Privateering info on enemy freighter and transports. Weather (ion
storms). Commendations list for military action. Potentially even
character-submitted articles.
We're also looking at adding several new missions, increasing the
number and complexity of automated traders, adding mining-bots, etc. More
customized sectors will also appear.

A long term in progress page isnt a bad idea. It would give people something to look forward to. That might be the difference between some new players toughing it out or leaving the game because they dont see enough to interest them and dont know whats being planned like a lot of the testers.
StarFreeze what do you mean by " more customized sectors will also appear. SirNy
You will have to ask Incarnate, a1k0n, raybondo, or Vlad about that :)
ok Devs would you elaborate on the statement " more customized sectors will also appear". Sir Ny :)
the customized sectors are ones that have been modified by hand. the vast majority of the vendetta universe was created by a computer algorythm, making adding new systems easier because it generates all the sectors at once. The devs then edit some of the sectors (usually the ones with stations or wormholes) so that they are unique and cool looking.
On another note... Andy (a1k0n) mentioned in IRC that player-based mining of roids would be implemented Soon™. His choice of date/deadline made me a little skeptical so I'm not divulging it.
I believe it was "On the horizon", not Soon™
In space, there is no horizon.
*ghasp*
That means they're implementing a horizon in space? ;)
Seriously tho': Mining will be great!

Hi, I'm actually working on a list of things that would help demonstrate what we have coming in the next few days, weeks and months. And also be better at getting input from users. Forum changes and some other stuff.
If this game is futuristic, which it is...I would suggest implementing an AUTOPILOT....I'm sure if warp drive, space travel, "tachyon blasters" and other futuristic things exist, than somwhere along the lines, somebody would have figured out an autopilot....not just i click on sector and it will take me there as long as i look at the screen and wait till i'm far enough away and then hit enter, but an autopilot that will engage my warp drive for me..now that would be a treat, i might even be able to get some work done if i didn't have to always wait to hit enter....it's not like its cheating, i could very easily get shot down(blown up) by a pirate along the way, there is still ion storms, and variable obstacles like asteriods that my fancy autopilot can't account for, but man, I'm sure this autopilot would exist in a world like Vendetta...
I tend to agree, autopilot should be in game, especially for flying between far apart systems. I recommend you post that as suggestion if you haven't already.
Autopilot mode, sure, cool. However, not while we have infiniboost still in the game.
What would be nice is the reduced-speed autopilot, that basically tries to navigate wormhole to station, and the same about anything. And only has enough AI to try and avoid a rock. Hit a storm? oops, too bad. you're very very dead.
Why? simply to make sure the AP is balanced enough that its not an "great" idea to do autotraders.
