This shows a ship with a battery of 1000 and a speed of 68 (being very near the bottom of the speed scale). I know that this is from a pre-beta phase of the game, so I was just wondering: Was the speed and battery scale vastly different then, or is there a kick-ass ship out there that we don't know about yet?

There's a kick ass engine and battery out there that you will most likely never be able to fly.

They're known as the unreal engine and the dev battery, and only devs and guides have access to them. I've seen Sherpa (a guide) go flying past in the blink of an eye, he had to be going at least 500 m/s.

The devs have also been known to fly frigates, UFOs, superbusses, and cargo crates.

Actually, it's the NiCad battery. :)

strange things start happening when you go that fast...
I remember Sherpa saying that the engine/batt took some getting used to; I'd probably keep issuing on roids were I to fly a guide/dev ship =p

screwball, if you look closely at the speed guage you will see that it is not up to max speed. 68 looks to be more like a gentle cruising speed.

with that being said, devs.. i found a bug today, i think i deserve one of those until the reset! :D
