i wish that UIT would turn red when they fire on a convoy because someone blasted a convoy i was following the other day and then it was hard to find them as i ['d through the green targets and by then they took off.

Finally:
http://vendetta-online.com/h/cargostats.html

There needs to be some explanation on that page as to what all the numbers mean. All "deliveries" refer to one crate each of extra special magical xithricite.

I think a lot of the convoy deliveries were carried out on our test server while we weren't using it and counted for the final total, so this kind of messes things up. The last time I checked though, there were 89 itani and 89 serco from this, so it was even at least. But it's amazing -- right now the cargo deliveries are exactly tied at 248. And there's 50% more cargo from the opposing team on each side, so there's been more theft of the enemy's cargo than defending of one's own.

A lot of the stats listed this very first round will be incorrect/inconsistent due to some bugs. The next round (rounds end on Saturday nights around midnight, US CST) should be correct and unskewed, and we will provide a history of previous round summaries.

it's easier to steal others cargo because the silly bots are still warping from within the 3k limit. they fly much better, dont pause as much and generally head for wormholes, but occasionally they hop through a WH and then jump immidiately to the next sector on their route, meaning for a few minutes they have no defenders.

It's also harder to get your own because the convoy has a tendency to vanish from known space and never make it home. You really should make additional notifications in 201/202.

Uh, why are UIT pilots listed on this?

From my point of view, it's their neutrality (and thus contracts) on the line here, so their government wouldn't want pilots going around blowing up cargo convoys and endangering that neutrality. Neuts get every other advantage in the game:

-access to all sectors
-thus easier access to all special ships
-convenient access to high-return resource sectors in unclaimed space.

We Serco (and the honorless Itani, but that's beside the point) don't get any matching advantage to balance it out (and no, national pride does not count). If the Neuts are a nation of mercenaries who value money above all else, I don't see why the rather xenophobic Serco government would EVER sell a Prom to one of them, regardless of their status with our government. Same with the Itani dogs and their piddling little Valkyrie.

It's because we are not "neutral", we are "independant" :P

The way I see it, UIT already get the shaft by not being able to participate in the PvP border war missions. At least capture the cargo gives us something fun to do that's PvP oriented.

While as I see both sides of this i can also see that UIT pretty much is a nation of Mercs. Itani and Serco (ill call them equal out of respect unlike ctishman) do have it a little harder then UIT does for the previously mentioned resons. If UIT wants to b Mercs then lets treat them like a threating nation.

Id laugh if they implemented a point hit for every cargo crate already delivered. The highest players faction standings would go way way down. :)

I played "defend the convoy" for the first time last night, and while I had fun (and admittedly, I'm not a very good PvP player), both convoys were destroyed. The major problem that I see is that the robotic convoy escorts just really aren't that effective. They get left behind in Daltas Hold, or they never come to the convoy's aid. Another problem is camping the convoy.

Okay, so I admit, I should have been a bit more vigilant about this, but last night, a Serco convoy left Daltas Hold, and there were three Serco and one UIT escorting the convoy. Naturally I'll trust the Serco pilots, but I was a bit wary about the UIT. He'd shown up out of no where, and wouldn't respond to my hails. I'm in decent standing with the UIT, so he showed up as friendly on my radar, and I asked him if he intended to help defend the convoy against the inevitable Itani waiting on the other side of the jump. He didn't respond, and the second the convoy jumped into the Sedina -> Latos Wormhole sector, he attacked and destroyed the Transport. I had accidentally hit my turbo button while facing the wrong direction, so I effectively took myself out of the fight (and that's totally my fault), but even after he'd destroyed the convoy, the UIT pilot still showed up as a friendly. I think that if a pilot in good standing attacks or destroys a nation's transport, he should take a permanent faction hit and become temporary KOS. And again, where were the bot defenders who could have helped? Nowhere to be seen.

Yea, there are bugs with the escort bots. we're working on fixing the cargo convoy.

Quentin is right -- "Neutral" has always been a misnomer. They're independent. The reputation of an individual is what matters, not what nation they're from.

I agree there should be some pretty severe faction penalties for stealing cargo, which would effectively polarize a UIT player to one particular side.

Now that's what i wanna hear!

2 UIT blew up the Itani convoy and took the cargo to Itani space! wtf?!

i was saying that last night someone was like "well it doesn't matter if they are bad in itani their colour depends on the sysytems faction" and my response was "I don't care what their alignment with the system is their standing with me is what bloody matters"

or something like that. my memory isnt exact
