You've been programming for too long when you read
"- Players who have received five "good" ratings for mentoring
will get a 5 8190iscount at their nation's stations."
as
"- Players who have received five "good" ratings for mentoring
will get a 5 %discount at their nation's stations."

Impressive list of fixes, features!!
I like the backdrop of the station interface and the new/revised descriptions for the different ship variants.
Server just got resetted, need to play some more to see the other stuff.
Great work Devs!

--- Vendetta 1.0.9 (beta) ---
- Fixed problem on OSX for sound cards that have hardware formats
other than 2 channel stereo float format
- Fixed Options so they correctly work with the Apply button
- New players automatically receive a free ship in addition to
the tutorial mission
- Removed InGame Menu (Pressing Esc now opens the Options menu
and Log Off is located there.)
- Moved Quit button from station menu into Options menu
- Nonexclusive joystick capture that will hopefully fix the
problem with people losing joystick support mid-game
- /charinfo gives more information on floating crates
- %target% doesn't include guild tag anymore
- "Arcade" mode is now labeled as Flight-Assist mode and is a
checkbox in the Input Menu
- Chatmode is saved to config.ini file on a per character basis
(whether sector or channel chat is active)
- More info in the station menu for various items
- Moved cargo capacity and hitpoints into scroll region in ship
select/buy menu in station
- More error msgs when playlist fails to load
- Bot death message is only relayed to killer instead of everyone
in the sector
- Station is rendered in the background of the station menu
- Start menu doesn't slide in anymore
- Pressing enter after typing password now automatically logs you
in
- User-definable chat colors by manually adding settings to
config.ini
- Capture the Cargo is in place, convoys carrying rare trade
goods travel from stations in unclaimed space to stations in
Itani and Serco territory. Players can listen in on channels 201
and 202 (for Itani and Serco, respectively) for messages about
transport departures and arrivals. Whichever nation achieves
more cargo deliveries in a week's time will be able to produce a
special piece of equipment at its stations. UIT players receive
large bonuses for helping one side or the other.
- Cargo now has weight, some items have a greater volume. Ships
generally have more cargo space and reduced mass, allowing for
the variants to be slightly more distinctive. Economy has been
tweaked to reflect changes in cargo capacity.
- Jettisoned cargo containers now contain groups of cargo instead
of one item per box.
- Updated tutorial with some new information and bug fixes
- Station guards and strike team pilots have been given unique
names
- License tests now show up only when you're eligible for a
level, and you can pay for your different licenses
independently.
- New version of the Advanced Combat Training mission, available
in single player or group variants. Should be less
frustrating. Also, single-player variant doesn't abort on
logoff.
- Basic Combat Training now only available until level three,
gives a more even curve of rewards for killing bots. Doesn't
abort on logoff.
- Border war now available as a group mission.
- Players who have received five "good" ratings for mentoring
will get a 5 8190iscount at their nation's stations.
- New tips on loading screen. (needs to be centered)
- Improved some background graphics and lighting (most notably in
Sedina)

I don't like the new station interface. Showing the station from the outside while docked slows things down, makes no sense (why would it show the station from an outside perspective? Wouldn't it be more logical to have it show the area around the station from a camera located on or near the station's surface, as if you were looking out a window?) and is completely unnecessary. There should be a way to turn it off.
Also, have the homing missiles been nerfed, or are the bots that I've been going after with the new Advanced Training mission just better at avoiding them? They used to hit their targets fairly reliably, after a pass or two, but now they're pretty much useless.

Wow, awesome awesome update devs. Very impressive work. I can't believe that station background got implemented in just 2 days! I don't know what Drooling Iguana is talking about, I experienced absolutely no slowdown on my 800 MHz mac, and it looked awesome! I have to run to work, so I'll explore the rest of the patch later tonight and post more impressions.
Hmm will we be able to see the tallies of cargo on the website or will we only see that whenever the time period is up?
station background is nice but we should be able to disabled it by choice somewhere in graphics menus because the mouse get lazy sometimes in station interface and sometimes you just want to resupply and reenter the fight fast.
missiles seemed ok
some initial bugs got fixed really fast (greets a1k0n)
itani and serco convoys already working but UIT involvment is not really clear to me. it says UIT will be rewarded but it doesn't say how exactly. further steps need to be taken there ?
there are plenty of things that would need documenting. is it acceptable to organize a "documentation team" that would take care of these things ? i mean outside the devs group so they can focus on more important stuff.
advance combat is nicer now but due to the crying in the forums i was not assigned any apu17 in the "optional" list. i think this aputech 17 issue was over-rated, they were really easy to destroy with various simple tactics.
these were my initial impressions. i will have more time later tonight to explore the news and will get back with more :)

111MB... My poor connection...
111MB? It was 2.5MB for me.
If the slightest wrong thing happens, it panicks and gets the entire download again.. Just had the updater die at like 99.9% and now it wants the whole thing, after killing it and restarting.
Thank you cable modem.
Thank you cable modem.
The new station background is cool. Could be even cooler if it orbited the station slowly 15deg per second or something.
Is there any need for a pop-up window for the mission tabs? Could the informatino be shifted to the small window to the side? This would make things a little cleaner and use some of the redundant space.
There are a few typos in the new tips tho. I'll try to note them down when I get on tonight.

Would you please post that under an appropriate title in Suggestions?
Arr, the updater is definitely not supposed to do that. It used to work right... *sigh*
way to go
Mine downloaded 111MB first try. No previous crashing necessary. I figured you'd included a lot of new bg's. :P
Just wanted to throw in a word of encouragement to the devs: version 1.0.9 is awesome (bugs aside), and the new features seem very promising. Of course it's fun to see something I suggested work its way into the update (even if its only temporary), but the border war mission looks like it will be fun, and capture the cargo is a blast! It brings back the gameplay of CTF just like in the old days.

Looking back its amazing how far Vendetta has come... I remember when there were only 18 sectors and we only dreamed of missions, faction, skills, dynamic economy, and component stations. The things that made Vendetta fun to begin with are still there, but now there's so much more. Looking forward to release, keep up the good work!
