Capital Ships
I searched for this discussion and found very little even on the internet. I was just curious as to whether or not capital ships will be available in the release. I have seen nice fancy screen shots with them included but have found very little info as to when they will be available. I already Pre-ordered so I was just hoping I could have something to look forward to, not that this game isn't great already, but the idea of capital ships and maybe even guild owned stations is very exciting. It gives the possibilty for great battles, and will encourage people to join guilds or factions just so they could become a part of that...
They are currently planned for a post release update about six months away or so.
As an aside, do any of you EvE players know if they have made Titans available yet? They seem analgous to Vendetta's capital ships - except that I hope Guild can get them into the game eventually instead of constantly putting it off as the EvE crew has.

i've been hearing that 6 month thing since the capital ship first appeared in sector 16. odds are when the actually decide to do it it will actually get done pretty quick they just have bigger fish to fry at the moment, so pending a month of post release bug fixes and another month of mission additions they'll probably start focusing on the uber cool stuff, assuming this all works out and they don't go the way of every space sim ever to come into existence post wing-commander demise. so don't be cheap, pre order and pay for atleast 6 months right away!
Starfisher : Titans are not available yet, however, Shiva patch is set for 3rd November, meaning guild/corp star bases will then be available. Some Tech 2 ships have been added recently though.
Arn't capital ships supposed to be manned by players only in a twitch based space combat game like this?
Instead of one player controlling the capship using RTS mode?

I meant that Titans have been promised since the beta but haven't been released yet.
The capital ship is very much the same concept.. a really big ship that everyone is excited about but takes the back burner to other more important issues and so is never full realized.

Well I guess i should make the suggestion that honestly if i were them, I would wait to release this game when they have capital ships. I mean its a great game, but i already feel like i fly around purposeless. Missions don't really give you anything($$$$ big deal what can you buy other than the same ships, weapons whats the point ive only encountered one two pirates and i never even got to fire a weapon ;sneaky bast#@$, exp. who really cares the only time anybody will see your experience is if there looking to blow you up) which i know they've probabally got all these problems being worked out but at the moment it just feels like i'm exploring a universe that i can't really ineract with. Fighting is fun but I like the ability to gain medals and rank, which there should be more ranks in guilds other than council, commander, luietenant...(ya i know i can't spell) The point i'm trying to get across is don't rush things, if you want people to buy the game and keep playing, give tham a reason too. I mean i think you should go as far as having guild or Faction owned planets with defensive structures etc...make the universe a constant battle between factions, with trading being a great part of survival. Remeber TradeWars...one of the best games ever and it was all text based, but user could own sectors which they had to protect...I'm sure all these ideas have been thought of and I'm only trying to get these guys to ensure that they don't fail at this game. I've already purchased my copy of this game, But i did so based on the screenshots of capital ships and the thought of guilds or even single users controlling such things...2 months from now when my 60 days free runs up, odds are no capital ships no renewal of game...yall can talk bad about my comments all you want but the screen shots of the capital ships and talk about them in interviews are out there and dang, you sold me on the idea; now i want to see a capital ship...
Wow. I don't want to flame your spelling, punctuation, grammar and general sentence structure skills, but that was a lot of work to get through.
Anway, what you must realize is that the game CD is already "pressed". The release WILL happen as scheduled. Many changes are server-side and won't impact the client-side software much. Changes that do impact the client will be reasonably transparent because we access the universe through the updater anyway - so there's no searching for the latest patch so that you can play your brand-new game online (like some of the "big" games make you do).
The other thing to know is that guild is a tiny company with one saleable product. They need some cash to keep the development going at the current rate. This release is a business necessity.

The Capital ship already exsist, its not in game now however in the earlier version many of us killed and been killed by it.
The devs even flew them around the universe a few times. When the DEV's say it will happen, it almost always does. They have a great track record.
Fear not.

However, as a future paying customer - the term 'business necessity' scares me...
Vendetta has been operational for a few years now, with no outtages except for brief server moves and Acts of God (or garbage trucks) - and with no product to sell. They aren't about to say "Well, it was fun, but lights out time. Thanks for your cash, sorry about that extra month you paid for". They've been honest and considerate to a fault. The "business necessity" is that if they want to get Vendetta to the next level there has to be funding for future development.
Another point of view: I've gotten several months of play out of Vendetta already... even though I've been "alpha- & beta-testing", I got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Even if I picked up the game, and they "turned the lights out," I've still gotten my money's worth.
Maybe the newer beta testers don't feel like this, since they haven't had the extra time I have in Vendeta... but I wouldn't worry about it. Have faith ;o)

"(or garbage trucks)"

Yes, all confusion and joking aside, it was just a normal garbage truck that managed to take out some fiber on a telephone pole. And then the secondary fiber connection (our building is on a dual-entrance fiber ring) failed due to a bad card in an OC48 DDM.
I was one of the people who helped architect our old ISP (Time Warner Telecom), so we usually had the details on what was going on. Our new ISP (Resilient) is run by a bunch of friends of mine from the old ISP, so we still get those fringe benefits.
I guess this is pretty hideously off-topic from capital ships. So I'll add:
Yes, we plan on implementing capital ships in an expansion, probably 6 months after release. We have had a cap ship in there before, and could do a simple implementation like that again.. but we want a more fully-fledged and fleshed-out cap ship addon (not to mention a wide selection of larger ships.. instead of.. One).

Well that all sounds great, all efforts appreciated, I don't care how my grammar is, I didn't major in english, see you all in the game...
