please post here if you come here from Elite game. I sure am, and love the storms. Just wish that thargoids were as agressive as in elite :)

oh, post the machine that you've played Elite on first and version.

ZX Spectrum 128k (Pentagon). Elite (original) and Elite II/III by Kladov.

ps I want Police bots to come out of station when you shoot it :)

Been playing Elite since it first came out on my trusty BBC Micro, then followed it through many incarntions to Frontier First Encounters.

There are so many little things that would translate perfectly into the Vendetta universe aswell. Cargo Scoop ship upgrades for collecting cargo, warp field analzers for following people trying to escape :).

Oh yeah an Elite 4 was announced as being in production by David Braben a couple of months back :)

I played Elite Plus, if I remember right... I want to say it was on my Tandy 1000. Memory's starting to get kinda fuzzy, though, that far back. I loved trading. Still do.

I remember some (early?) versions of Elite came with a short story. I can't remember who wrote it, but it was quite a well known science fiction author (Heinlein maybe?). Does anybody remember what it was called or who wrote it?

EDIT: Found it! It was Robert Holdstock ... knew it was a Robert :). It's available here http://www.eliteppc.com/novella.htm

Actually in Elite by Kladov you could buy MK4 and get cloaking devices and other stuff. It was very advanced version. Looked exactly the same, bar few new additions. They were rare, so when you got them you went like WOW, what's going on, that's not supposed to happen. Like sometimes thargoids that catch you in between hyperjumps would disappear using that cloaking device. Or sometimes after you arrive into a system a couple of vipers would fly with you in formation and protect you from pirates if your status was clean. of course they would not be happy if you started shooting at them.

or locking the station for pirates. when you status was clean you could go back to it, but vipers would kill you on sight until you dropped your piracy level.

i could go on or you could try it in spectrum emulator ;)

I look for a game like Elite since too many years ago, of course with improved grafics and so, and of course Online.
I am here just for that reason, this is my first post and this night my first try of this game....¿is my search close to the end?, i hope it is, and i hope i can be useful as beta tester, finding bugs too.
I played Elite with Spectrum 48k (¿20 years ago more or less?...my god...a long search), the best game ever for Spectrum, thousen of hours playing it.

I hope to find a lot of PvP, and just something of PvE..

I played Elite frontier on the Amiga CD32, many years ago :P

Everytime I hear "The Blue Danube" or "The Charge of the Valkyries" I wish I was back there glued to the screen.
