Some n00b stuff (changes)

I was experimenting with a few things using a new Itani character "Morpheus" this morning, and I noticed a few things about being a newb that have definitely been changed:

*Yellowjacket launcher is available to buy at level 0. THANK YOU devs! This will add some more variety to weapon choices as a newb. I experimented with killing some collector bots using the yellowjacket launcher and found that although it's a lot of fun to use (getting the right angle for a hit actually takes some skill) the plasma mkII is much more effecient for leveling since you don't have to repeatedly go back for more ammo. Still, it's got a neat graphical effect and I'm sure the n00bs will love the variety.

*The defbots don't kill you when you break the no-fire zone. A warning appears in your mission screen that says something like "This is a no fire zone, attacks on Itani pilots will not be tolerated" but if you continue to fire, nothing happens. This is a GOOD thing! We don't want newbs to get raped by fascist uber death vults their first few minutes into the game. I'm not sure exactly at what level you become susceptible to capital punishment, but it would be interesting to find out.

*As a newb, friendly fire is turned off. You cannot damage others of your own nation and they cannot damage you (regardless of their level) UNLESS you challenge them to a duel. Since there is no penalty other than a verbal warning for breaking the no-fire zone, newbs cannot damage others of their own nation. However, if you challenge someone to a duel you can damage them, and all the rules of the no-fire zone apply. I tested this with baccaruda just outside Itan's reward and no sooner did we open fire than we got the message "Dueling is not allowed in the no-fire zone" and in swooped the fascist death vults! I also tested the n00b FF rule with mr_spuck who was of a different nation, and found that it was possible to damage others of different nations.

One thing I have left to test; if a member of another nation is in my own nation's no fire zone, will I be penalized for attacking them? My guess is yes since in the verbal warning it says something about "Attacks on other pilots will not be tolerated."

The no-fire thing is the same for everybody. You're only listed as having broken it if you cause damage to another player or bot. So I can shoot to my heart's content- but the second one of my shots hits somebody and does damage (ie: not a friendly player), I am marked as KOS. That's not newbies-only. That's a 1.0.5 inprovement, one which I like!

Hmm, interesting. What about friendly fire? Is friendly fire turned off for higher levels as well as newbs?

Friendly fire is determinate by your status. So if I'm an Itani and I'm +950 with Itani and silentsuicide is an Itani who is -700, I can shoot at him. Otherwise, I can't.
