Not Planned for Sale? WTF?
I went to my local Electronics Boutique today. For the 100% of you that don't live near me, that's the only video/computer game store anywhere near me. Anyhow, I asked if they knew anything about the upcoming game, Vendetta Online. So the guy looked in his computer and it wasn't listed. As he told me, "I guess we're not planning to sell it. I've never heard of it." So I looked in his computer database. And I verified- Vendetta is not listed. Now, EB is one of the bigger "mall" video-game stores. If you're not selling it there, where the heck are you selling it? Devs, you really need to get on Strategy First about this. That database had every game that EB will sell up to release in early December. And yours isn't one of them.
To the users: Check your local stores. Find out who is going to carry it.

It's likely that Vendetta isn't listed yet because Strategy First hasn't published a release date. It's listed as TBD (To Be Determined).

I looked up the other titles at random on Strategy First and noted that they do distribute through a wide variety of online and brick-and-mortar retailers, including EBGames. Not every title was available through every retailer, which I assume is the decision of the retailer. You could buy your copy online, or (even better) request that your local retailer snag you a copy after it is released. Maybe they'd stock a spare for display.

And why is it listed as TBD if the devs have it listed as October 5th and SF's already started making CD's? I mean, they have less than a month. Shouldn't they be notifying retailers already? Because I don't actually want to buy it there, I just want to find where they are on the shelf, stand there and pull every person that walks into the store aside and say "BUY THIS GAME OR ELSE!!!!!!!". I'll buy mine direct from SF if necessary.
You should really wait until October to check if the store will carry it or not. Only really major games will show if they will be available in the store like Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 a year ahead or several months ahead. Most games that arent that highly anticipated I see get put up in the last week before the release. Sometimes you may only see it on the day of. I guess it really depends on a lot of things and is hard to tell if the store will carry it or not after the game has been released.
i agree with roguelazer, we should just camp out at the video game stores and never stop telling people to buy the game.
Well rogue there is a possibility that the stores haven't gotten an issue about this game yet. The devs are probably doing the finishing touches and making sure that the game is not having and problems and running smoothly. Plus the game isn't supposed to come out for a while is what I heard. But I'm not sure it could come out some other time but it takes time for the game to come out in stores or in the data base.
I think the sell sheets go out to retailers this week.
EB has a direct distribution relationship with SFI. I understand that we will be there.
