How about Vendetta Vs Jumpgate?

Yes Jumpgates graphics are way outdated, even the developers refuse to update it because they don't want to upper the minimum sys requirement. Right now the min Sys requiremet for this game is 200 MHz, 16MB 3D-Accelerator, 64 MB RAM. The learning curve for this game is very steep because its got a flight engine thats based on newtonian, plus it models the mass. This is also a twitch based space combat also. There is also a complicated ship configuration system(where you can configure shields, engines, powerplant, capacitor, radar, ECM, guns, missiles, and even extra ports that can do extra tricks with your ship), and a power grid to tell if your ship will be underpowerd or not.. There are lots of professions in Jumpgate you can do. Especially mostly non combat ones. Like PvP, Hunting AI purple ships, mining, artifact hunting, hauling, etc. I played this game for like 2 years or so.

In a nutshell, a Space Simulator with a skilled based flight system. No auto aiming either.

The bottom line about this game is: There are no latheral thrusting in this game, the universe is small, its only availible for windows, the graphics are outdated.

I have been bragging the creators at WineX to make the program support Jumpgate so it can be ran in Unix like systems as such.

The people I seen on the internet when they first found out about vendetta, they called it Jumpgate II, "it will replace Jumpgate", "It's the next Jumgpate", etc. But they will probably be wrong.

Overall, Vendetta might not be a suitable substitute Jumpgate because Vendettas gameplay and ship configuration is still a bit too simple to deal with, and the control systems are more related to a first person shooter than the actual flight controls itself. At least it will have a lot easier learning curve..

None of these games sucks, they are just tottaly completely different games. They both have ups and downs.

And thats about it.
