Adding my own models to Vendetta
Hi.
Judging by this thread: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard?thread=5267&page=1
It looks like you can add your own 3D models to Vendetta? If that is correct, what format must they be in, and to what scale?
I've made some 3D spaceship designs in Maya and would like to see how they look in the Vendetta engine.
Here are some pictures of two of them:

Although those are very nice models, you cannot add your own models to Vendetta.
Wow, nice models.
oh, sorry then. =) I must of misunderstood that other thread.
I doubt we'll ever get to use custom ship models, unless they will be so modular in nature in the future (not just loadouts) that you'll be able to change their appearance with a selection of pre-made models. But if it were totally user customizable, there'd be a lot of potential for exploitation.
There was a ship contest not long ago in the Suggestions Forum where the lead designer of the game, Waylon, asked for renders of each submission. You can send your renders to waylon@guildsoftware.com. While their inclusion in the game isn't 100% guaranteed, it's worth a shot.

wow cool. when i get home i might finish some of the models i've been working on and submit one. Does the ship contest require you to make a texture?
The ship contest is already over, and it didn't require a texture; just a ship. (didn't even need to be 3D). And those models have a nice shape, you should make some more :)
Holy sh*t... I'd love to see those things in the game...
Yea.. the first one looks more lika a bomber (or transporter.. hmm.. a cargo ship!) than a figher but it's awesome ;)
You should post them somewhre in SDF ship contest thread :) And maybe send them to waylon :)

darn those are nice models
Cool models Tritian.
I used some tricks to let my ship look like beeing in vendetta space.
My ship was just a dream i had. I never mailed it to waylon.
Im not sure if it would fit into the game. And i doubt that he likes it.
But it seems that it fits into the (short) story i made, and well it seems some people liked it.
That was more then ive expected.
Just send him your models, its worth the try :)

I like your ship AgY, it'd be a real bitch to hit in space if your shots can fly through that center part thats all open. =)
Anyway, yes. The 'Fighter' ship looks more like a bomber, I just never got around to renaming it. During it's creation it just kind turned into a bomber somehow. But it did start out as a fighter.
Here is an earlier pic of it's first incarnation:

And a space station:

All of those models are sadly unfinished, though. Been kinda busy at work/real life.

Hmm.. Maybe they will not get into a final release (waylon said that no new ships will be added) but You might try to make it to a expansion!. That 'fighter' if it's a bit bigger than normal ship coud be a 1337 destroyer :)
I also like that second bus of yours. I could be a good addon to current bus ;)

Custom models cannot be added to any type of commercial mmorpg. Because of some EULA aggrement that the developers fear that they might get sewed.
But you can add custom ship models to another game called Vegastrike.

even if all development steps are documented and send to the developers? hum
The only way you'd see your models in the game is if you signed your rights completely away. You'd have to say essentially that the model is theirs, they can do whatever they want with it, up to and including writing "Tritian's Models SUCK!!!111one" on it, putting it on the box and giving one to every player.
I'D BE FAMOUS!!!!
I suppose that's one way to look at it...
