Just wondering...
Someone brought up an interesting point somewhere else..
Suppose that we do have huge cargo haulers, when 1 goes boom, what happens to all the cargo? can anyone imagine the resulting graphical and network lag of having all that cargo dumped in a sector in 1 area? anyone remember the good days when a1 made an oops and left the cent with 200 cargo space and we all made cargo piles? remember the uber lag?

Cargo will time out eventually.

If we had something like that then there would be larger crates that contain many cargo items.
A hauler would explode and there would be maybe 5 large crates that would each have maybe 200 caro items inside, or something like that. You would have to have your own hauler to be able to pirate them.

/me bounces up and down in anticipation of large cargo ships
But if a hauler blows up every 30 minutes, it is mad lag.
Bulk cargo containers might become necessary.
Medium: 1 widget per container.
Tall: 16 widgets per container.
Venti: 30 widgets per container.
Yes, in the future, Starbucks will take over our system of weights and measures. I have forseen it.

I think 50 per crate is a better idea... and if you shoot the crate, it explodes into maybe 15 cargo, so for a real profit you want a team with a cargo hauler.
I like that idea Urza. You can still get the cargo in a smaller ship, you just get no where near as much. Maybe Regular -> Damaged widgets too?
Vendetta has so much potential...ADSFKLJEWkjlkjfdLWIKJf. I think, that if so many of these cool ideas were implemented, I would be willing to pay a ridiculously large amount of money just to play it. 10000 sectors...DYNAMIC sectors...a REAL economy.... I'm jittery now.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA IT'S TOO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT!

Someone pass this kid a valium.
Also, if a ship blow; it should only give 50% of the cargo... but if you jetison, it gives the full 100% whatdoyathink?
I think not until traders are genuinely afraid of dying.
This goes with my idea of adding cargo containers to the game and allowing the Marauder to pull up to 5 of them in a rigid assembly (think "Space Truckers") If the Maud is attacked and destroyed, the containers break loose but are undamaged and the attacker will need another Maud to retrieve them.
The containers would only be available in 18 and do effect the handling and speed of the Maud.
