I like the idea of Incarnate making global aliases...
Saying f*** = /explode (immediately)
Saying pu*** = /make 18 home sector & can't buy anything except free bus followed by /explode just as you warp from 17 to 11.
Second offense = /1 week ban.
(I'm not joking)

1) Chat abuse / verbal abuse: Players are asked not to direct unwanted profane, racist, or sexual comments at other players. This is not to say that players cannot curse - that's what the filter is for. Saying "Sherpa is a motherf**king a**hole." is verbal abuse and is not permitted. Saying "I f**king hate guides." is permitted, though some players may not appreciate the language. Spamming is also not permitted. Generally 4 or fewer lines of text are not a problem, but more than this becomes disruptive to others. A warning or two may be given to the offending player at the time of the offense, followed by muting if the player fails to comply. The muting generally lasts until the player agrees to avoid verbally abusing others. This could be a minute, or it could be days.
This is good and all, but what's stopping me from avoiding a mute, or even a ban, by just creating another account?

You being muted over and over again; till some 1337 H4K0R decides to nuke your system because (s)he doesn't like you :P
Again, nothing is really stopping players from making new accounts to avoid muting or banning, except perhaps the loss of money and other stats. I am well aware that a few people have made new accounts. I don't bother pursuing these people if they change their behavior, but all too often their lack of self-control causes them to break the rules again...and they are muted again. It's an ongoing process that has no remedy until verified/secured accounts are created.
The point really isn't to punish past behavior, but to change to better behavior.

Understood, but what is done to those that do not...?

actualy, i love the exploding if you swear in game. I can see it now...
"Hi yal! i just joined! this is a tight fucking game!"
BOOM
"What the fuck?!"
BOOM
"Holy shit!! why do i keep dieing!"
BOOM
"Fuck this shit. so gay."
BOOM.
"i quit."
How about, the filter is expanded to catch words people use as ways around cursewords.
Infact, it would be cool if we could input words to be *ed. And if 5 people agreed that the word should be *ed, then the filter added it to it's list.
In order to stop abuse, there would be a place where you could suggest a word be unbleeped, and if 6 people or a dev/FM felt it shouldn't be *ed, it would be removed from the filter.
Note: all this would be done from the site.

Man. Perhaps guild should just develop and market a profanity filter engine instead.
The filter catches enough imo. The devs are making a game not a chat room. When the game is released most kids will need parents permission to buy it anyway(credit card) So parents can monitar and decide for themselves. It would be nice for people not to purposely avoid the filter with spaces or dots, thats not right.
@Urza:
How many would add "Phoenix" into the filter? Or "valk", "Serco" (oki, that one is ligit), "cow" or "pie", just to upset the filter-moderator? :)

that would be abuse, and the people could turn around and vote 6 times to have it removed.
Everybody seems to be acting like such children over this issue. You do realize that people continue to curse so bad because so many people whine about it. You know, instead of posting useless ranting threads about harmless curse words, go do something productive like shoot down the player that's cursing...did that ever occur to anyone? This game is vendetta...if someone does something you don't like, go after them. These threads are such a waste of resources. Thank you, my rant is now over. ;)

In response to Technocrat ranting about the uselessness of this thread, I shall now make him a target ^_^.
