active player scale?
the graphs on the website have no scale, they have a time and nothing more. what is the actual scale to it. u can clearly see a large dip in players mainly when US goes to sleep. which is how many people?? i doubt its large on scale.
Also, there is just an enormous imbalance between red+yellow vs blue forces which makes even Deneb mission battles one-sided (the last one I participated, was me versus a team of three reds and one yellow who bickered me into oblivion; so, 1v4). As a novice 3/3/1/1/1 mobile player, "I can't even". Should I just make a red alt to play with or the devs can somehow intervene and balance the numbers?
@Mozenrath its one sided because us ONE are just more active than opposition. what can devs do about how guilds operate, recruit and keep people engaged. what can devs do when one side just cares more.
Itan just needs more people not just harpo, itani, and blazzy but most can’t take the heat from pvp so idk. sucks to be itani atm Serco has more power at this time, we just roll with all the punches.
Wow, @Mozenrath, ONE works hard to win, Serco work hard to fight and win, you want to say that there is an unbalance in deneb, I'm sick and tired of hearing itani have the disadvantage itani have 3 stations in deneb Serco have to jump threw a wormhole into deneb to fight the Valkyrie can deshield any player capship, now tell me how itani have the disadvantage? Oh Serco have more players yeah we do why because we want to win and cover each others backs so we don't lose. Best to not be in the kitchen if you can't handle the fire. And itani have the gals to say that they are at the disadvantage.
13GF has been more active that Itani nationalists for YEARS... it's not just a recent phenomenon. Hopefully one day when the gates are opened this imbalance is corrected somehow, but it certainly is discouraging for new itani players who want to play the nationalist angle.
The devs removed the scale from the player graph to end the the "there are only # players on so I won't log in" comments. The graph tells us when there are relatively more or less players on, and yes the numbers decrease during the night US time.
We used to have hardly any Serco and an abundance of Itani, and now the tides have turned. I don't know that the devs should do anything to balance the nations players choose.

So, first of all, people never stop complaining about balance and fairness in Deneb, from both sides, no matter how many players have ever been in VO. Sometimes one side appears to be more organized, sometime the other. If you want to get more people involved on your side, try recruiting people to help you play Deneb. Join guilds, start guilds, mentor newbies, whatever.
The suggestion to remove the graph-scale came from the player base. Basically, they got really tired of EVE players coming in-game and complaining how the game didn't have 10,000 concurrent players or whatever. VO players would argue and stick up for the game and eventually got tired of defending that point. (This was at a different time from when the "players online list" was removed for alt-hunting reasons).
Every different group of new players has a different perspective on how many players is "enough". People from EVE, versus WoW, versus Fortnite will each have very different expectations. The relative-graph shows when "more" players are online, and people should just make a judgement on whether they're actually enjoying the game or not, rather than based on some statistical mental-idea of the game's population.
Doing things this way has become more relevant in recent years, with the rise of the "dead game meme", where people pronounce titles like PUBG "dead", on social media, when they have (at that time) over 67,000 concurrent players on Steam. Steam players do this particularly, and have been known to (recently) go after MMOs with lower concurrent Steam-counts, even though the game's overwhelming player-base does not use Steam to play.
The irony is that by spreading the "dead game" meme, some games have actually been substantially damaged, or even killed off. The meme itself gets louder than the game's ability to market itself, and you have a self-fulfilling prophecy.
To quote the above linked article: "According to Sursala, when a meme catches fire, no matter the content, it ends up being read with a certain legitimacy. The upshot? No matter how alive a game like Apex Legends might be, if it's called "dead" by enough people, that overshadows the facts."
I think a relative-scale graph is fine. It wasn't my idea, but I think it serves the purpose. If we get to a point where we have EVE-level concurrency numbers all the time, maybe I'll put digits back in. But, for now, maybe just focus on whether you enjoy the game or not.

if its the case then why have the graphs at all? a graph is useless with no scale. and if it is low numbers then why even have it when it shows such inconsistant fluxes in player guessed numbers (as there is no scale). which if its so inconsisnt looking if people where to look how active all they would see is partial very fluxing data on a graph again just showing a point it has less then other games.
seems like it kinda defeats its own purpose.

not to mention a few days ago even new players ask for help and there seems so few on no one responds for hours, which u could probably see in the relay again paired with if they look at the graph and how inconsistant it is would natrually make them think dead game and move on anyhow.
also sidenote fix the touch to target cuz its so impractical to use sensor pda to target a specific ship and who even bothers with the target button. as for me being able to play ill wait for that then return when its back not very happy i just subbed to find out the targeting method was removed so its utter poopoo to play now.
Anyhow ill check forums in a couple days time and hope the target touch is back otherwise Star Citizen is where i will be found.

Anewold, I told you over discord that it was removed temporarily while the devs fix something wrong with it. It's OBVIOUSLY not a permanent change. Good grief.
luxen heres my point, i sub they make targeting so bad it makes so basically useless todo, how are u supposed to target a pcb unrat behind u in a dent? not to mention i use the virtual sticks and not that experimental aim thats like mouselook (which personally i dont like), on top of me subbing which means to play i have to wait which feels like im being scammed of my money. yes its whatever the reason for it gone, if its short like a few days fine but if it isnt then why should i resub. i cant play unsubbed cuz stations absorb all the crystals so i might as well play another game, one that feels similar in gameplay and needs no monthly sub is SC.
I like vo as much as i like to moan, but when it feels like im being scammed by paying and not really being able to play cause of the poor aiming system when its not touch to target then its very off putting to say the least. and i doubt there would be any sort of compensation in sub time for it.

The graph is not useless without a scale - it tells you what level of activity there is at a given hour. Want to play with more players? Log in when the graph is high. Want to mine or trade in peace? Choose a time that is relatively quiet. Want to see more action at a given time? Log in at that time and invite others.
The devs told us right here: https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/37698
"- Touch to Select on Android has been temporarily disabled, pending fixing a major issue."
This is an indie game and is still in development. Innovation comes with the occasional setback, but the devs always strive for an excellent experience. Give them the benefit of the doubt, and consider reading release notes before assuming a cataclysmic change.

Anewold, this is not appropriate behaviour for the forums.
- Whistler already responded with the use of the relative graph, before I even posted. You just chose not to read it.
- If you wanted to raise the issue that the removal of touch-to-select diminished your ability to play, then you could have simply asked about that, without accusing anyone of "scamming" you.
For instance, you could have asked what the timeframe was to bring the feature back, instead of getting angry and assuming we're disabling it for a lengthy period.
As Whistler says, this is an actively developed, independent game. We don't remove features lightly, but sometimes there are problems, and it's very late on a Friday, the problem is too complex to immediately fix, and a decision has to be made.
Making that decision is my job. The decision was not intended to harm you, or any particular play style. Difficult decisions always have trade-offs.
If you want your money back, then open a support ticket. No one is "scamming" you.
But definitely understand: this game is no longer welcoming to people who want to just be salty and angrily bitch about things, instead of communicating reasonably. Find a better attitude, or find a different game.
