you dont think modifying speed would boost the energy weapons eldrad? whats easier to dodge, a govt issued plasma cannon or a graviton? the plasma cannon cause it moves so much slower. the idea with increasing the speed of the shot isn't to hit the enemy from farther away, it's to hit him more often at the same distance. That would mean that in order to dodge, your enemy would have to back off another 30-50m to compensate. thats an extra second or half second to dodge the flares that he's firing. I think it would work.

He didn't say they wouldn't boost the energy weapons. I think what he meant was the people are underestimating how much of a boost a speed increase would give. I agree with him. Even a 10m/s speed difference will be huge in determining the accuracy of your shooting or the liklihood of dodging.
why do i object to rails having a speed increment? it is because i agree with dave that they are not fighter vs. fighter weapons meant to be used in a dogfight but either hunting or long-range weaponry (as proven by Serco Fighter 1).
seriously, it is very frustrating if you can't even get close to an enemy just because he has different weapons. even gauss are easier than rails when you have to close in. now, i don't object to backpedaling (doing it myself against flares and gauss), but right now the rails are already useful enough against fighters. no need to make them uber, imho.

No need to bump any speed up except for differentiation between the usage of certain energyweapons.
No need to boost weapons accuracy. I prefer a fight that takes 5 mins in stead of one that takes 2 secs.
Energyweapons are good enough, they only need a small differntiation against each other, nothing else.
Suns need to go down, they are to strong for the moment, especially since reloading is not a prob. If you had to fly 10 sectors before you could resupply then I could envision them to good enough. Or jsut slightly to much, and 8 - 12 would then be my suggested amount, everything else the same.
But now with in almost every sector a dock, 6 is more then enough.
