HOTAS question

May 18, 2020 praxis link
Hi All.

I have a Thrustmaster T.16000 HOTAS (joystick + throttle). I'm a tad confused on whether there are presets for this in VO, or how to set it up through Options > Controls.

For example, my Thrustmaster throttle is inverted no matter what I try, and I can't bind buttons from the throttle only the joystick.

Thanks in advance for any help you can share.

Well i guess it depends on which OS you're running vo.
I have a X56 saitek. It has 2 usb plugs.
Under linux they are seen as two independent joysticks.
i use the /bind command to assign buttons /bind JOY0BUTTON1 +fire1 for the first stick and /bind JOY1BUTTON1 activate for the second stick.
For axis i use the PDA control options there you can select which device from /dev/input/js0 or /dev/input/js1 i wish to configure.

Thanks for the reply. I have two usb plugs as well and I'm running on Windows 10.

I've tried the Scan for Joysticks command but it does not recognize my throttle. Do both of yours get recognized in the Options > Controls > Joysticks screen?

Additionally, I don't see how we set deadspace values, etc.

Thanks in advance for helping me here.

Cheers

I don't think there are presets for the T.16000. There are for some older HOTAS devices (X45). We'll likely be adding more presets in the next few months, as we do have newer sample devices. But, they're all at the office.

You should be able to configure everything about the HOTAS system manually. However, there's a combination of using the "joystick" (axes) and "keyboard" (buttons), that is a bit strange to use. That configuration system was never properly "designed" from a usability standpoint, and it's awkward at best.

But, it should report every axis and button from every device that is passed along by the various input APIs we try to pull in (depends on the platform, but DirectInput and Xinput on Windows, etc).

Occasionally there are odd devices that "report" things like buttons as axes, and things like that. But, those are really issues specific to the device itself, and the way it's reporting over USB. Thrustmaster hardware should be fine.

Thank you for this detailed reply.

Most of the buttons on the throttle do not report, in addition to the throttle itself being permanently (or so it appears) inverted. Might this have anything to do with my streaming a Windows 10 installation with VO through Shadow Tech?

I can report my hotas works fine on X4, Elite Dangerous, and Star Citizen while they too are being streamed through Shadow Tech.

Unfortunately, the game runs too hot on my lower spec macbook pro (2017) for me to play it natively. I'll keep an eye out for the new presets when they are available.

Thank you again.

I'll be keeping up with this as well.

I'm running a Saitek X52 Pro and just re-upped my subscription after a long hiatus. What are mot Mac users going with. The Saitek is going to take a lot of work to get sorted—i'd be looking to, as much as possible, match my binds from Elite Dangerous.

Most pleyers mouse and keyboard? (A decade ago, I was trackball and keyboard.)

Hello Trick,

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in months. I dropped VO in June because I could not get it to work with my Thrustmaster HOTAS setup. Have you got it to work with your Saitek?
