Still new, I'm on the Oculus go, and on my 7th mission in tutorial, my question is, I'm supposed to destroy minor ship, but can't make my ship fire. I looked at my ship and the top square is empty, how do I arm my ship? And then fire. Thank you for your time, and patience, I have some learning disabilities, but man I want to learn this. Thanks :)

I don't know the specifics of controls in VR, but arming your ship happens automatically when you buy weapons on a ship with unfilled ports. the only other thing would be, when docked and on the weapon purchase screen, look for a button called "Groups". this lets you change what triggers are bound to what ports on your ship. if you are using a ship with a large weapon port, those are normally set to secondary fire by default, so you may wish to change that to be a primary fire button.

I also suggest downloading the game onto a phone or the PC and trying to learn from there first. there aren't too many familiar with what could be VR specific [such as which buttons are bound where by default, or how certain VR-specific things are just different from the PC platform], so learning the standard first may help you find what you are looking for later.

My advice would be to forget messing around with weapon groups, or trying to figure out how to equip stuff until you have more of a hang of it. Just buy a new ship, buy a gun and a power cell (keep in mind that there are two types of weapon port, large and small) - do not touch anything else - no matter what you may have done to your last ship, your new one should have a weapon equipped and armed now.

Undock, see if you can fire. If you cannot then we can go further.

I've played 3 years and i still don't know how the weapons groups work, needless to say chainfire or binds. It took 6 months and 2 youtube videos to figure out plugins - so it's not a matter of how long you play, you just have to get an idea of how everything works earlier on.

I doubt youve played that long without knowing how weapon groups work.

March 2016. I had 85 real-world days spent in game in less than a year. And i still don't know how groups work, no. I screwed up my buttons messing with it so i haven't tried since. So, essentially, you doubted wrong.
