The new Oculus device is called the Oculus Quest, which will be out in Spring of 2019. It's also been mentioned by the press that Vulkan engine support might improve battery life and performance on the device.
Based on the published specs, the Quest will basically be similar to an Oculus Go, but with a faster processor/GPU (835), and a slightly higher-resolution display. But, the bigger deal is that it adds inside-out tracking, allowing you to move around with 6 Degrees Of Freedom in real-space, along with fully 6DOF "Oculus Touch" style controllers.
Inside-out tracking with 6DOF, in a game like ours, that means an improved sense of immersion, as you can shift around in your cockpit, and things behave more correctly as you move your head, etc. Or, as you stand in the docking bay, you might shift around or away from the "display" a short distance.
But, in other games it allows a completely open environment. It could in ours as well, if we added things space stations where you could "walk around" in real-space (don't expect this in the near future). But, it would be on you to not trip over your furniture.
The controllers would allow you to "see" your virtual hands, and create another level of user experience there. For instance, the "laser-pointer selection" mode that's available to puck-style VR controllers was originally prototyped as a "pointing" option on the Oculus Touch for the Rift.

Yeah. I have a PC which is fast enough for a gaming PC. I think nVidia 1080ti + 16Gb RAM and Intel Core i7. Just wondering what VO is like on Oculus Rift :) I'd prefer to have a really good high-end VR gaming platform. The Quest seems to be in between GO and Rift. Ideally I'd get a Pimax 5K+ but I'm not patient enough to wait until next Feb - March ;)
Do people use a Bluetooth controller with the Rift or the Rift controllers?

OK tried it out on the Rift. I like it! Just have to figure out the controls as there's no tutorial specifically for them. Seems good but if I get stuck I can use my Steelseries Stratus XL which is now paired with my Desktop PC.
Glad you like it :).
Rift is still "Beta" in its support. We have better integrated tutorials for Go/GearVR. A lot of the tutorial challenge is knowing "exactly" what kind of controller a player is using, and how to combine that with VR, which is a bit more uncertain on PC (joystick? gamepad? oculus touch? HOTAS rig? etc).
We'll probably roll out better Rift tutorial integration sometime in the next few months. A SteelSeries XL should be a good option, in combination with the Rift.
