anyone thought of talking with EPIC or Nvidia? they supported UT2k3 for mac and linux...they seem like the sort who might take this on. just a thought...i dont want to see this game die.

As much as I'de hate to see Nvidia turn Vendetta into a perk for your next graphics card purchase I'de hate more to see Vendetta die.

that wouldnt be so bad..the graphics would improve then :P

the graphics are already sweet. it just depends on your computer's hp.

Indeed. Hey, I find the graphics of Vendetta 1337 even on my 350Mhz g4, 16mb VC! 'nuff said!

having a vendetta cd in your Geforce69SeX Super Mega ed. wouldn't be too bad a thing. Guild would still be making money on the per-month charges and it would make the game more widely distributed. I'm sure Nvidia pays some minimal licensing fee to include those games in their retail packaging.

One of the best games I've ever played, Giants, was bundled with my buddie's video card. I might never have played it if it wasn't.

Who pays for the server? The one they have now probably wouldn't be able to handle thousands of sectors and thousands of users.

Yeah giants rocks, too bad it is veeeeeeeery buggy, it isn't nice when your computer locked up every couple of minutes during multiplayer :(

>Who pays for the server?

Well I vendetta gets a licensing fee.. there you go, the money.

they have *two* servers, the normal game server and the test server, granted the normal game server with its 4.5gb HD isn't goinbg to run thousands of sectors, but their test server is a bunch more powerful(I heard dual Xeon somewhere) aaaanywho, it isn't *just* the server, it also has to do with the architecture.

Of course. But if this is to be a big game you need more than a single box, even a powerful single box with a ton of bandwidth, sitting in a basement somewhere...

Nvidia is a video chip manufacturer, not a publisher. They do bundle games with their drivers, and we've talked to them about this. But, those are usually finished demos and such. Our game is not finished. The problem is getting enough funding to finish the game. If we did so, there are lots of bundling and comarketing possibilities.

Nvidia is not, however, in the business of funding, supporting and publishing games.

Have you tried EA games?

/me goes to make a list of random publishers

EA Games published Earth & Beyond by Westwood, which tanked. I don't think they're real big on space-based MMORPGs right about now.

GarageGames!!!! (Actually I hate them sorta, not my idea of a good publisher, but they may just be able to help)

What about finding a company like Lionhead Games? They produced Black and White. I bet if Guild found a co-producer for Vendetta they could secure massive funding. Of course, then you sacrifice artistic vision...blah blah...I respect that.

Ooo, black and white is nice. But the crazy-gods and space MMORPGs hmm... don't know if those two fit together ;)

Yeah, and Blizzard never makes a game without Orcs in it...

Hmm... Blizzard

Lessee. You bring:
-Dedicated team
-High-quality, expandable engine
-Cross-Platform capability

They bring:
-Money
-StarCraft-licensed ship, story, character and world design

= World of StarCraft

Some of you are thinking way too big. Vendetta is a nice game, but rather modest in comparison to the latest and greatest.
