Legit the most random capship stuff.
The goliath isn't an original design, This was what it was based off (2006)

In all fairness to Harry Seldon, I think we should rename the goliath the "Ursa"
The Capella was going to be named the "Amarok" (Inuit for "Wolf")
And this seriously needs to be a capship.

That's a bit of an assumption there.

No.
No.
"- You must sign over all the rights to any created content, we must own the intellectual property (this is legally crucial if we ever seek additional outside investment). This means you will even need our permission to show the creative work in an artistic portfolio (generally, we're fine with portfolio displays, unless the content is still secret, unreleased, or in development in some way).
- You will not be paid for the content, your only compensation is the experience gained in adding to a live, shipped game product (if you contribute a great deal of really worthwhile content, such as 3D art, you may be added to the game credits, but this is not promised to everyone). Having your work appear in a live production game can be useful asset for a resume or portfolio in the game industry.
- All content must be very high quality. Sometimes higher quality than content already in the game. After all, we're only going to replace mediocre works with good or great works, we don't want to add more mediocre content. We do not view "many mediocre ships" as being a step up from "a few ships", all new content must be AAA quality."

The resemblance is striking, I must say. His name isn't Harry Seldon, it's evidently John Hawley.
But..Curt is the one who finalized the Goli...
Eh. They've got some similar design elements, but if you do a side-by-side, they're clearly different ships.
The goliath is based off of this:
There is only so many ways you can make this design completely original.
There is only so many ways you can make this design completely original.
I don't see why it would be a big deal if it was based on that. It appears it was submitted as part of a user-initiated contest. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that at some point Curt might have seen the images before he created it.
Or maybe it was a huge coincidence? It does happen in nature.
* We all float, there are A LOT more similarities between the goliath and the ursa than there are between the goliath and the semi truck.

Lol this is clearly a laugh. Lets not argue about something so trivially small.
I love the response incarnate.
Oh and the dev system is named Delvopia
A-1 Is an aeolus station, :D

It's very unlikely that Curt ever saw the images. It has some similar elements, but so do a zillion other "chunky angular" ship designs.
I saw the Goliath all the way from the earliest rough paper-sketches through the final result. I saw the external art pieces that provided inspiration and ideas (none of which looked like the final result, more like inspiring design elements), and we both tweaked the concepts as it moved along.
So, no, someone's un-textured extruded boxes from 2006 did not influence the creation of a ship a decade later.
I don't have any motivation to deny this, really. I don't care if it was an "inspiration". It just.. wasn't.
The thing non-artists don't really understand.. is that making a model like the one in the OP would take me or Curt about 15 minutes. I have a zillion discarded models like that, which probably bear as much similarity to the Goliath. It just.. isn't very meaningful.

Damn I pointed this out too!

If only I phrased it badly, people could have misinterpreted it as an accusation of some sort!

I wish I could see incarnates gazillion discarded designs...... I find them fascinating.
