Vendetta 1.8.438
*** Vendetta 1.8.438
- New Warthog graphics, with much higher polygonal detail and advanced
shaders.
- New Weapon: Capital Rail Cannon, 10k damage, 25 grid power, 25,000Kg.
- Capital Swarm Missile damage increased from 850 to 3000, missile
timeout increased from 25 to 30 seconds.
- Screamer Rocket energy requirement dropped from 60 to 30.
- Warthog MkII is now available at Sedina D-14.
- Fog has been removed from Sedina H9.
- Fullscreen mode on Mac OS works better with Spaces and switching
between apps.
- Fixed certain OpenGL 4 shaders that were not properly renormalizing
lighting calculations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice update!
That capital Rail cannon is gonna be pretty sweet. Good choice making it turreted.
Also like what you did with the screamer rocket. It's a hard weapon to use but the damage on it landing is awesome, dropping the energy requirement was also a good idea.
Thanks Devs.

Nice to see balance changes and these new assets. Ive been lurking on the forums, but not really in game much. What's the roadmap right now for the next few months? Tried checking out the test sector but that went poorly lol

As in the bots slaughtered you quickly, or it was too slow?
What's the roadmap right now for the next few months?
Roadmap is still a weird moving target, which is why I don't talk a lot about it (I'm inevitably wrong, and then people bitterly yell at me for "breaking promises").. but Mac Store release is a high priority, also some Bot-code re-working that I sincerely hope will result in both better existing bots and also more-interesting "new" bots (and touches on a lot of gameplay stuff I'd like to do).
Steam is still out there as a priority. There's a lot of annoying dependency stuff that's evolved in the last year. Like, part of why we're doing the Mac Store version is to completely re-vamp the way the game is installed on the Mac, as changes in OS application packaging and signatures have made our current download quite difficult for new users to install. Windows has some similar concerns with the introduction of the Universal Windows Platform stuff, and the like. Increasing pop-ups from recent Windows 10 giving dire warnings to anyone who tries to install our properly-signed download binaries.
These OS/platform evolutions are somewhat understandable (preventing malware) and somewhat-not (pushing developers to use their official "Stores" so the platforms get a revenue cut), but the timing is frustrating as re-working the installs is quite complicated. But, that is what it is.. if people can't really install and use the game, we're in a tough spot.
I imagine you're asking more about gameplay-roadmaps, but honestly I'm trying to juggle and jam gameplay changes in between a lot of stuff we have to do to stay operational, for one reason or another.

I wasnt prepared for the "intensity" level of the new bots lol.
And yes, I was asking more about gameplay roadmaps. I get it though. Wont be gameplay roadmaps if the game is no longer operational. Thanks for the reply.

Huh new AI bots eh.
Also when can you guys just make a vendetta-coin already so I can pay you guys with magical money generated from my fancy protein-folding-space-heater... Or y'know pick a crypto and set up via bitpay or something!
PS; Moderation is overrated... please moderate your moderating actions... my jimmies are rustled.
Stop being such a fuckin' natzhee... pls...
PPS; you win by default sheesh fine... really makes me want to cough up that ten bucks to go unload my load on some bots... ppps: /s (just in case you need it and your jimmies are exponentially more rustled than mine)

The new Mac client updates resolved my previously reported frame-dropping issues completely, it seems. I've been playing in fullscreen mode and switching between apps without any issues.
The big capship hulk debris test sector still kills the fps on OS X, whereas Windows handles it well, but other than that everything else is perfectly fine and playable again.

That's great to hear, Niki. The change was not really intended to solve that problem, but it's fantastic to hear that it did.
We'll plan to take a look at the debris sector performance, on the Mac.
