(idk if I can post this?)
New debris test sector in Latos D-14, hulk pieces are physically interactive and some pieces if "struck with enough force."

PC fix for asteroid resolution.

(nice updates cooking up!)

Course you can post it, anyone can really.

I'm definently looking forward to seeing how these asteroids are implemented, and how they can be utilized in pvp.

For anyone who wants to see this update, and a comparison of the last update's new asset, you can watch this video. Also learned I suck terribly in close quarters >...<

The roads should drop ore on destruction.

A new way to mine. Nice.

CrazySpence, what brought that up? XD

anyways, I hosted a surprise event in the sector today, as per Incarnates suggestion to see what happens and collect feedback. When I first jumped into the sector, I thought it seems kinda laggy for the first few seconds, but today as I hosted, nothing really came up. In fact, I dont think there was much any impact on anyone during the event from the sector itself. Now, we didnt scatter the asteroids beforehand, and keeping people in the asteroids while they fought was gonna be a supreme pain, so there is that to think of, but as for just sitting close by, I dont think there was much any negative powers at play by the asteroids. As such, unless one of those attendees just didnt tell me about their suddenly unusual lag, I think the sector did pretty fine tonight. also, great fights, guys, hopefully we all had fun.

Yeah, between your hair and mustache, you look a little time displaced, and the sepia tint your lighting was giving you enhances the effect. It's pretty cool, actually. Normal people are boring.

Anyway... YAY DESTRUCTABLE ROIDS!

"There are no resources to mine there."

I'm sure the dynamic physically-interactive asteroids are not mine-able yet. That isn't really an oversight, we just haven't gotten that far in the implementation.

There are a lot of things about these new physically interactive objects that are really quite radically "new", from an engine standpoint. They're basically a whole new class of objects, because they have to share certain properties of some types, like ships (since they can bounce around and send network updates), as well as other types, like asteroids (which have mine-ability, persistent temperature, etc). These historical object types are handled separately, as it makes our network protocol a lot more efficient; so adding a new type into the mix requires some adaptation.

Thus, mine-ability will come in time. For the moment, we have other issues to address first, like mis-prediction of quantized rotation that happens with larger dynamic objects, etc.
