- Added five new types of physically-interactive space debris.
- Space debris can now be damaged and destroyed.
- Latos F-12 test sector updated to use additional types of debris.
- Capship hulk no longer requires 3000m distance for sector jump.
- Capship hulk is now dynamically colored to a random color.

Yay destructibles!
Yeah that was fun. Incarnate and raybondo even made an appearance, too! Never knew Incarnate was blue :3
They broke wormhole detection on the hud with this update (though they were aware and a fix might have gone out before I even poted this message)fixed allready! Cool!, and it sounds like they plan for the hulk to spawn the scrap peices over active sector time. Cant wait for the update when THAT happens!

Actually, I never said that. All I said was that we're still evaluating how the scrap thing is going to work..
But, glad you like it :).

Looked and worked great on Gear VR. Although I think a piece tried to shoot at me (made the noise). I dont think I fired.
Excited to see how you use it.

Sure it wasnt just a pirate lurking inside the hulk? They've been known to do that. Either that, or it was your own autofire; targetted scrap will get shot at.
No pirate. The sector was empty. (Or they were really well hidden, not detectable, afk, with autofire on, and missed all of their shots)
Could have been my finger slipping but I didnt think so at the time.
Grain of salt. If Im the only person its probably just me.

Capships which arent "broken" also dont have the 3000m distance rule, so that fits well.
Again, I don't have a problem with some kind of addon that prevents people from jumping out (creates an artificial 3000m limit, like a droppable mine).
But making the hulk of a capship do that would not be very consistent..

Not really. A functioning capship obviously has systems that allow it (and by logical extension, other nearby vessels) to jump despite its mass.
Once reduced to a massive piece of scrap metal, however, those systems are gone and it's really just one more asteroid - and should have a 3000m jump penalty attached to it. Running away in VO has always been too easy. No need to KFTC on the issue.

I would think there would be a considerable mass difference between a solid 'roid and a ship's hull.
Yeah, most likely a ship-hull would be a tiny fraction of the mass of a solid asteroid of comparable size. Like a factor of a thousand or more.
Anyway, it is what it is, I'm not making hulks prevent jumping at this time. Changes are always possible in the future, but that's how it is for now.

Except comparable size doesn't enter in to it. Even the tiny little roids govern jump distance, and the hulk debris are much larger than those.
Now...maybe roids all contain some magic, jump-interfering substance that's just not found in ships. But what I've heard so far doesn't make even that much sense.

It's not about size, it's about density.
No, it's about gameplay.
Well if these are put near an asteroid then problem solved. It wont be only L-F12 forever.

They're asteroids, not neutron stars.

Perhaps there is a (weaker) powercell, powering a system that prevents jump inhibition, that is not damaged with the main software system dying (Its mechanically done).
Just a thought. Anyway if I was someone with an unlimited energy source, I would set aside a few sources to re-reinforce a tonne or two of plates, as opposed to extremely heavy shielding. So, a capship having that's not as heavy as a massive, ten hundred-ton plus asteroid.
