Great job developers, I love you all.
Thanks to all betatesting players, you've made a good community.
I promise to pay some money per month to play this game even if it gives very little bonus ingame.
In suggestions I will try to think of bonuses for paid betatesters that will be both easy to implement and fun to have.

It has been 1 hell of a good run. but it's not over yet. I say keep pushing. Give it your all (ok, so even more than that, cause you already do.)
You guys have produced a game that plays better and is more fun than most of the games i have ever played.
If it comes down to the worst possible senerio, put V on teh shelves for a while, work on it in your spare time, and never stop trying to get a publisher.

My God. I cannot believe that this is it. I've been playing this game every night for over One and a half YEARS. I don't know what to say. This game has given me more joy, frustration, fun, disappointment, fun, anger, fun, joy, conversation, fun,
long talks, joy, startegy sessions, fun, made me really PISSED OFF, and family fun.
Yes, FAMILY FUN. Three (yes, 3) generations of my family play this game!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all me (AKA Capn' Dawg, Mr Hankey, God etc.) My daughter (Sally Ride, Carmen Ibanez) my son-in-law (Red Jester, Vader) and my grandson (Dassan) have
been playing (sometimes together, sometimes individually) for quite some time.
DEVS...I think that I understand what you guys are going through....all the time, effort. planning, discussions, analysis, implementation, testing...blah blah blah.
Your recent post rips my guts out. But the one thing we need to know is what you
did not say....WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP????? We Do have a community here. This thing can be made to work, but we need to know what we can do. Inform us.

I'd like to agree to everyone here. I've bought tons of games that turned out to be so horrible I just throw them in the closet, fifty bucks down the drain. I haven't paid a dime for this game, and yet I've had more fun playing this game than nearly any game out there. I'd be happy to fork out the fifty bucks for this game. A bunch of my friends play this and it's just a good game to relax and have some fun with. Let the users know what we can do to help, if anything. I guarantee there are MANY players that will be glad to help you guys out financially. (at least a little bit) Well, thanks for a great game, and good luck with your endeavors.

Bad news this time. I'm playing Vendetta for a few months now, and since first "flying" arround astroids in sector 2 I knew that this is the game me an my mac were waiting for.
My christmas wish is that there will be some light at the other side of the tunnel.
Don't let it end.
Maybe the new year brings new hope, hey!?
Regards and best wishes, Chris

Quick! Make us pay! I'm sure most of us can afford $15 a month.
/me sighs
I knew this period of quietness had some bad news attached to it. I just knew it! Well, I've donated my part. It wasn't a million dollars, or heck even a hundred, but hey it's my way of thanking the devs for the time and effort they spent on at least providing us with a free public beta to try out. I can honestly say that this has probably been my best experience for any space combat sim ever. Especially back in the days of 3.1.x. And for that I'm eternally grateful.
In regards to finding a publisher, I'm not sure if it is even necessary. Although a publisher would definitely add a huge amount of financial support, it sounds to me like most of the devs are simply caught in a string of bad luck in terms of today's craptacular economy. It sounds to me that some of them are having trouble finding second jobs to get the additional money to support Vendetta's development, and this really isn't anything new for anyone else either. It just downright blows and not much can be done about it.
My suggestion, for what it's worth, would be to dump the Guild Software offices altogether. Is it required that Guild Software own some type of physical office? I mean some companies are now working overseas through the internet (including Ambrosia Software). The money for the server/ISP can be allocated towards one person who can then give the other developers remote access to it for maintenance. I don't know... I mean that's one possibility to save money by getting rid of office space costs etc.
I mean just look at Bungie Software. They started out as two guys (Jason Jones and Alexander Seropian) coding games like Minotaur and Pathways into Darkness within the dorms of University of Chicago. They packaged their own boxes, printed their own manuals, and distributed it with whatever pennies they had. Before they knew it, they gathered enough money for a small office in Chicago. And then a bigger one in Chicago as their company grew. And then Microsoft bought 'em out. And now they're frickin' rich!
Maybe they lucked out. Maybe not. But that's a classic example of how two people started out with nothing and became something. I'm not sure if it was because the economy was better back then or whatever. Nevertheless, there's some inspiration to be had there for any developer. I guess.
In closing, I hope the best for Guild Software. Even if you guys don't finish Vendetta, I sincerely hope you'll find something that's fun and profitable for your future. My best wishes.
PS: Is there anything WE as the public can do to help besides donate? Will spamming the mailboxes of various publishers help? Or at least some type of petition to show how popular it is.
=(

Devs: have you looked at some of the european publishers? JoWood (www.jowood.com) has been known for publishing experimental games(well sorta anywho, they published gothic, and gothic was also made by a team of inexpierienced and unknown people).
If nothing else works, please tell us the name of the publisher you want to sign up with the most and everyone who plays can send them an email or sign a petition, just to show them that vendetta is popular even in beta stage... (I mean Im sure we can get enough signatures to make at least some impression)
Most important of all, keep us informed about the guild's status(financial and "political"). The last thing all of us want is for you guys to dissapear :). Im sure the community can and will help in an emergency situation. Just tell us what to do.
PS. WOOHOOO GUILD!!!!
EDIT:
Ok, I just want to add something. Even if despite all efforts, the Guild will have to close, please don't give up on Vendetta. Perhaps the server load can be distributed and players can run parts of it, maybe even some of us can even help with the development, but PLEASE PLEASE don't let Vendetta just dissapear.
EDIT2:
Whoops, it appears that xicat(http://www.xicat.com/) published Gothic, and jowood published gothic 2

Have you had a look at Ambrosia Software, devvies (www.ambrosiasw.com)?
I love playing this game.. it's fantastic; I'd even pay for it as it is now.
I wish you the best of luck.
.. and yes, I'll be donating, and I encourage everybody to.

First, allow me to say that Guildsoftware has designed a very good game. It is very unfortunate that you have not been able to find any publishers or any Angels willing to back you. :(
Having been where you are right now in contemplating shutting down one's company and seeing years of work going down the drain, allow me to please provide a few words of support/encouragement. No matter what, you WILL look back at this time with pride. YOU have done what others have not. Started your own company. YOU have even created a piece of commercial software and have seen people PAY for it. Remember that with PRIDE. Not many people can say that. Yes, right now, the road ahead is very bleak. Bills in front, to the side, and behind you. As a close friend of mine pointed out to me on Saturday, it's just money. You can ALWAYS make more. What is TRUELY worth something is the time that you spend. Time you spend with those people you consider to be friends. Time you spend with your family. Once that time is gone, you can NEVER get it back. You can ALWAYS get more money. The next few months are not going to be easy for you. It never is but it will get better. And it will make you all a better person for having gone through this rough period. Also, if I may wax religious for a moment, please remember that God never puts more on our shoulders than we can handle. WE may not think we can handle it but HE knows what we can truely handle.
In conclusion, I'd like to wish you all at Guildsoftware good luck and a long and prosperious life ahead.
Finally, to all those folks that I consider a friend here, Peace, Long Life, and Prosperity. I will miss spending time with you all online.
P.S.
If you folks at Guildsoftware need to find a new host for your server(s), please check out ServerMatrix (www.servermatrix). They offer some EXCELLENT deals on hosting dedicated servers starting at $59 a month. I know of a couple of people who are hosted there and LOVE the servers that they have.
