What? Why did they decide to move the 88?

Because it's an ugly, dated asset that was intended to be replaced and removed. It was brought back by the PCC, and I agreed to it without fully realizing that it would be "everywhere".

Thus, it would show up in every newbie's list as the first ship in the Buy Ship menu. One they can't purchase, but still.. available. And really bad looking.

I suspect this contributed to lots of random bad reviews about "dated graphics". There are certainly other dated-looking ships (and graphics), which we're replacing. But the EC-88 was already replaced, with the much newer-looking EC-89.

So, I compromised and let people keep using the EC-88, but it's stuck off in a backwater of the galaxy.

So the hornet has cooling fences, even tough theres nothing in space. but wait, in VO there is (top speeds!), so it makes sense after that first violation of physics again.

@Incarnate/raybondo: could we PLEASE have the old model as LIVERY back? just so the work in the old model isnt lost!

Also, the EC-88 was first in the list of ships, the very first thing someone sees when they get to a non-training station. The Atlas is at least down the list a little ways.

As a longtime Hornet pilot, I find the visual overhaul to be a welcome change.

And you don't see too many Atlases (Atlaii?) flying around these days, either.

The Hornet is expected roll out to other platforms eventually, in a version with reduced texture resolution.
