About nothing - Star Citizen
I'm confused why Star Citizen has so much turnout even in their tech support/community chat there are 100's people on talking about all kinds of development stuff and playing advise etc. Always a lot of people there.
Lots in game too.
The game is unfinished and currently sort of sucks in it's current state.
Nothing really impressive and even the long game doesn't seem to be as interesting as I believe Vendetta is with exception to the player numbers.
I don't understand how so many are willing to put up pledges, money etc. for hope of future fun times in the game.
They recently unrolled some cool First Person shooter parts for testing but it's so glitchy it's not really playable except for a few.
What is it about this potential / hopeful game people are so interested in.
I wish they would all play Vendetta instead.

+1 to that money being sent to GS instead!
- Their level of graphics/assets are.. amazing. Obviously far higher than we can afford. I think they have over 300 people working on it now?
- Chris Roberts is a huge name. He was a bit of a rock-star back in the Wing Commander / Starlancer eras, and a lot of people remember that. It adds to the level of interest and general marketing. If Guild is a wacky indie band, he's Bono. Even before Star Citizen, if he announced a space-invaders clone, it would probably get more traction than anything I could announce.. that's just the reality of marketing and relative gravity that comes with major past successes.
- They've basically promised that "everything will be super awesome". Game developers, including myself, all do this to some extent.. after all, pessimists would probably never get started on making any game, let alone a crazy-complicated-huge one. But, it was a big concern for me with the initial SC crowdfund round.. that they could never possibly deliver on what they were proposing on the expected timeline (no one could, with any amount of money, due to limitations of development that do not scale by simply adding more people). I've long had a bit of concern that if they don't deliver SC, it could seriously injure the entire game industry/crowdfunding process, by basically harming public trust on such a large scale that all future crowdfunded titles suffer for a long time.. so.. on multiple levels, I really hope they pull it off :).
Anyway, all of that adds up to a lot of interest, and a lot of people being excited, and a very solid crowdfunding model that has kept them engaged.
I have a number of friends and friendly-acquaintances who have been developing other space games over the last ~15 or so years (EVE, Galaxy on Fire, etc), and of course we're all a bit envious of the amazing job SC has done at capturing interest and funding. But, we all wish the best for Chris and his game. We just have to keep doing our (various) things in whatever corner we occupy, the best that we can..

Thanks for the replies.
I guess it makes sense mostly but just seems strange to see so many in the RSI chat, in game chat and in space with the SC in it's current state. All the activity seems more a cheer leading rally in hope of that one day it's what they all hoped for.
Every time I login to SC I play for a short time to see if they fixed something or patched anything. Chat with others and then I log out. Wishing all those clowns would login to VO while their waiting for SC to get fixed instead LOL.
Oh well.
