Zorgtron has this spot on ยป "plugins are not exactly the first thing a noob learns to use" This Is What I Am On About.
We need db to be part of vanilla VO. Sure, they will still die to actuall long term players, but prehaps they will not QUIT after. We NEED them to stay, or VO will fall apart. The first generation is leaving, ninjr actually, physically died.
And without a new generation that doest not consist of a handfull of players, vendetta online will too.

I mean, i stayed. As I said elsewhere in the forums, most new pilots who end up quitting are quitting because they are fustrated about the game itself not being what they were expecting it to be. These new pilots often have never played a real combat game before, or if they have it has been balanced for new people to have an upper hand. VO is definently skill-nased, and thats...different. at least for any space mmo that is on the market currently (tjat im aware of)
Fair enough. We cant have vets making alts to abuse any possibls f2p advantage, so I'll not make a thread about making f2p more powerfull.
Note, this is about making f2p more balanced.

Kay, but that wasnt my point. My point was that many of the people leaving are leaving because VO isnt what they thought it would be.
Now, if there is anything we can do to try and keep them in-game longer (as player-to-player, not something for the devs to handle), I'm all for it. The longer they spend in-game, the better VO will appear to them. Its an old game, and thus has plenty of history, diversity, and there are all kinds of ways people can have a great time. The more people are exposed to that, I beleive, the higher chances are of them sticking around.
As Incarnate said, be the change. Well, there are plenty of oppertunities for helping new pilots - we must merely keep our eyes open.
Regarding how some pilots complain about the requirements of a subscription, for example, I like to remind them that there are only 4 things actually requiring a sub (nation-elite ships (UDV, Prom, Valk, Cormaud & Hound), capships (this one bothers a few, but then I inform them of capships in VO), mute voting, and guild leadership). All ships, besides those i just mentioned, have at least 1 variant available to f2p pilots; many of the better ships for pvp dont even need lots of liscences, just skill to use and nice standing. On top of that, if a f2p pilot reaches the lisc cap, ill offer them a freind key. Maybe that last nudge will make them eventually Subscribe to VO.
Honestly, a subscription only makes things a hell of a bunch easier. Merely because gems are no longer required, which have a limit of 20 gained each day (?). When new pilots are able to understand that, then they wont be so inclined to leave. Least, those that arent hell-bent on finding a game exactly like they want it. those pilots should just try making their game, instead.
