Goliath by christmas

Dec 20, 2016 xperia link
I hope this won't be the trident type Siepos and Prosus all over again
You have 5 days GS, better not lie about its debut

they didnt promise anything FOR/AT xmas...

Jesus, it's a goal. I'm doing my best. We had an important internal server go down last night (not player-visible), I was at the office until 3am sorting it out. We currently have a live issue where some Android players with ipv6 IPs can't connect, despite the fact that we added ipv6 support. We're juggling a lot right now.

I'm well aware of what I goals I have set, spare me the grumpy, angsty reminders.

Maybe my testicles will develop ionized propulsion technology, sadly, it is not likely. But if they do I promise it won't take six years. =)

I'm sure mocking and accusing the devs of dishonesty is motivating for them. Great thinking.

Sorry for asking about the Goliath coming before Christmas. I should've known you'd say "Yes, we're trying" and then some shit goes awry and delays everything and then people get impatient. Oh well!

These mobile f2p people better be thankful you invest time fixing their things for them.

I'd much rather have a stable game over some ship; both is good, but the former takes precedence. Do whatcha gotta do, cause you've been doing great!

Works for motivating lawyers...

Take your time. I'd rather have a stable game than a broken one.

Thanks for everything, devs!

What can we say, they are trying i really don't care if they don't give us the golith or not if the game is stable thats all that matters to me

The devs do wonderful things for us. Unfirtunately not everything is directly visible in game. They have achieved much improved stability and expanded the achievable size of battles over the last year, released a whole new way for playing the game via vr, and have also repeatedly fixed bugs that crop up during this, and often dealt with players individually to fix problems, so i think giving them a hard time over dead lines is not just counter productive, its disrespectful.

Thanks for the work you guys have done so far.

I shall look forward to seeing the Goliath, whenever it does appear, without baited breath. But mostly without putting pressure on them.

Why not just put it to the back of your mind until the day you log in, it updates and you see the huge surprise of "Goliath Released!"

Besides, when my kids say, "but i want it now!" I make em wait even longer ;)
Dec 21, 2016 Sieger link
Sure the devs do wonderful things. It's amazing to run a game with three people.

But naturally, people who have been playing for years will get impatient when they hear cool new stuff will release and then it doesn't happen. xperia cannot actually complain since he's been playing for less than a year. So he's sorta... the wrong person to complain. I do remember 2 years ago when it was said the Trident Type S and P were going to release next weekend most likely. So...

So the devs probably just need to ignore these impatient questions of "Will it be released before Christmas". That's a better strategy which will in the end make less people impatient. And I will have to stop asking these questions. :P

In the end, mocking the devs will not help to achieve anything. If it takes too long for you, play another game. If you have patience... Sit and wait!

I'll wait.

I don't want to sound like im trying to start conflict or anything, but it is always something. I'm sure this server that went down had nothing to do with the type P and S from coming out YEARS ago when you promised it.

Like dude you, Incarnate, straight up said that the new tridents would be released "this weekend" literally YEARS ago. I understand problems arise out of nowhere and you have to take care of them, but come on. I think the worst part is that you haven't even really said why it's been delayed for so long. So we have all these people who have spent a lot of money and a lot of time preparing for they TYPE-S and P that are now sitting around twiddling their fingers asking wtf and making assumptions that the same thing will happen with the Goliath. And then you have the audacity to come out and make some guy questioning the Goliath look like the bad guy. Like you are exasperated because you had to do your job.

I applaud you for your game and I love playing it. I hope you keep updating it and everything. But seriously you shouldn't act defensive when a post like this arises. Anyway, thanks for all the great times; I've had a lot memorable moments and have met a lot of good people playing this game. I hope you and your team have a wonderful Christmas.

Actually Sieger, that android bug hit me too! GreyShop runs on a low power devices with android (i'd chosen linux, but no ARM build for it from VO) and therefore its not F2P.

Do we as players in this thread know what it's like to develope a huge game with only three people? I think not.

My view on all this is that we (especially me) do not know what it is like to develop a game, let alone know what it takes to keep up with it, whether it's bugs or keeping the community active and playing. I'm not complaining. The only reason other games have faster updates than the ever growing game of Vendetta Online is because most of these games have giant teams of developers who update their games so fast because they have the manpower to do so.

With a game like this, how many developers do you think this game should have, to update as fast as other games, and etc?

You're just bad at annoying and mocking the devs, I've gotten at least half a dozen things that way

I just don't care about the goliath so I'm not going to help in this instance!

Carry on John!

Inevitable, I strongly understand the disappointment and frustration relating to the Trident variants, and the amount of time and effort that people have invested in those goals. Especially because no one in the userbase comprehends "why", and what happened. Obviously it was not a situation I expected, years ago. But:

1) Game developers will always be wrong in some of their goals. Stuff happens. The smaller the company and more limited the resources, the more challenging it is to stay on a particular course. Even someone really experienced can fail to foresee a ramification or a problem.. and these things happen constantly.

2) A history of having things go awry, does not make it acceptable to assume that all future things will also go awry, and to post grumpy, embittered pessimism on the forums. I'm not accusing xperia of being a problem in this way.. he's new. But many of us know the forums have a history of infamously embittered people who constantly say that "nothing is going to happen", and derisively attack any optimism or stated goal. I will not accept that on here anymore. I've actually gone to some lengths to structurally change the requirements of places like Suggestions, to prevent it.

3) For my own part, I've become a little pathologically paranoid about missing goals that are important to the player-base, which is why we rarely announce them (part of why there's no public development roadmap: people can't constantly accuse me of "lying"). So when I do announce a target, I'm damned sure trying to make it happen.

4) Pessimism about an upcoming goal, still well in advance of release deadline, is just dumb and unhelpful. Telling someone, who is busting their ass, "hey, you aren't going to screw that up again are you? Are you gonna be a liar again? You lying liar". I mean, seriously? No, that's not ok, and it's not "part of my job" to deal with that. So don't post it on here.

I don't expect everyone to forgive me for various screwups I've made. But they are a part of reality. While I do strongly empathize, my empathy for the frustration over those missed-deadlines and missed-goals does not outweigh my strong conviction that we need to avoid embittered, negative, and pointlessly pessimistic behaviour on our forums.. especially in advance of a goal?

Heh, at least let us screw up a given goal first, then complain about it?
