Im just wondering... do most people choose blue out of priciple or because of the obvious advantages of the valkyrie? I know most golds and reds choose their teams out of preference or whatever since they dont really have any advantages (red especially).

Judging from the vast amount of Serco and Neut valks I've seen, the valk isn't the main factor...

No offence Zombiebagel, Its really not to hard for a player to get a Valk, no matter the team. I couldnt fight my way out of a paper bag, yet I head to s18 all the time.
I think its more a point of being the first selection in the char creation menu. We get a lot more newbies them most teams, and a lot of the time, we take the time out for them.
Ive personally shown around plenty of newbies, and showed them how to kill the bots. As well as basic rolls and movement. Even taken them on trade routes.
And even tho im Itani, i like to fly around in a prom every so oftern =). Although it doesnt look as menacing when its Blue and Smiley. hehe

It's easiest to get Valks. But think, blue is a nice color. People naturally pick it. Red is generally used for enemy, blue or green for friendly. People like blue.

i chose to become blue for a few reasons:

1) didn't really want to tarnish gold's trading reputation (*grins at arolte*) with pirating
2) I was helping blue anyway beginning to help blue anyway as they were the only team in my opinion ever doing anything (no protecting your flag from phoenix doesnt count)

I fly a vulture these days and though I originally thought it'd be nice to get the valk easier, I dont use it.

Lets stop whining about population here. Nation stats takes into account ALL of the characters in a persons account. So we probably have about the same amount of "active" users. Plus Aroltes probably got 200 accounts with nothing but blue characters so he has something to complain about when he dies =)

You know what might be cool when people sign up in the game?

A brief history of each nation, what its 'advantages' are and such. I know a lot of newbs who end up switching for various alignments and reasons and such after starting. I'm not picking sides, but it seems that it would help people go where they 'belong' if you will

I would like to be actually neutral when creating the character and be able to choose the team inside the game. Wouldn't it be a nice feature?

I took gold because I was attracted by the word "neutral" in docs. I did not know that it does not mean actual neutrality.
