No chance for new players
I'm playing the Gear VR version. The game looks promising but I can't even finish the training mission 5 where you learn how to navigate. When flying to the waypoint I get shot instantly by other players camping there. Why don't you make the new players invincible in the training missions? I'm already too pissed of to continue to learn the game mechanics when I have to try over again everytime just to get camped again.
If yu are getting camped by other players, you likely arent where you are supposed to be. I'm going to be doing the training missions again, since my memory of that specific one is lacking, but i beleive that the training missions are all placed inside of capitolspace, where you will fimd it slightly moe difficult to attack other players, and be attacked by them.
Perhaps you are refering to one of te commerce escort missions? In UIT space, the road to verasi is indeed packed with dangers from other pilots, but there are other missions to choose from that dont require you to go out that way.

He probably ran into pirates while doing the test piloting skills mission as it has you jump to different uit sectors then kill some collectors before unlocking normal missions. Most of those sectors are unmonitored so the uit kos pirates sit in them for taking rests between attack runs.

While this does indeed happen, it is very very rare. The missions send the newbs to random empty sectors, and finding one "between runs" is like winning the lotto. It is more likely that someone with good standing, but not of the same nation is waiting at a nation capitol and following them on the mission (or just killing them at the station). The "basic flight test" starts at a nation capitol, not at the training station.
One way to help with this would be to make ALL empty sectors in starting systems monitored. Sure, this would make piracy in capitols a lot harder, as the strike forces would never give up the chase, but it would give a bit of added protection to the new guys when doing things like basic flight test. It would also stop people getting faction loss free kills of said new guys.

Create a Serco or Itani character and give it a try. You get 6 character slots.
I'd rather see all sectors in the Capitols monitored than have the magical protection they currently have...
I ran into a couple players running a 'fox in the coop' stunt maybe a week ago, in Dau.
Here are my basic self-defense tips, OP:
* Check your sensor log before jumping to an empty sector. If you are in the capitol and you see a foreign player within 2000m, don't do it; they will see your destination sector when you jump if they are within 1000m and there are a few seconds of lag time between pressing activate and completing your jump.
* Players of your own nation that are in good standing cannot harm you in the capitol system. Foreign players can shoot you without penalty in unmonitored (empty) sectors. In station sectors, you will have the Strike Force and maybe even turrets coming to your aid.
* Set your proximity alert to let you know if another player gets within a certain radius (maybe 2000m).
* Get in the habit of checking your sensor log every time you enter a new sector. Ask around to get to know what players and guilds to watch out for.
* If you are in a station sector, don't shoot back unless another player actually hits you. Your HUD will alert you when you are permitted to fire back. If you are the first one to land a shot, the other player will be able to kill you without penalty (provided they are in good standing). This does not apply in unmonitored sectors.
[SCRP], here is your first mission. [VPR] will aid you in this as they are able. Monitor channel 4357 for updates on criminal or pirate activity.

Unfortunately, SCRP has somehow disbanded, with six council and an Lt, player count 11 in total. I will return and do it the way you said to start a guild, Phaserlight. I appreciate the help. I will be regularly patrolling, without an oifficial guild for the time being.
Nah. SCRP-Super Crumby Rat Pirates is now patrolling grey! =D
lol helllcat

OK so maybe I'm too blind to find it, but how exactly do you open the Sensor Log? Is it the same as Sector Log?

Yes.

'u' brings up nearby ships, or you go to pda>sensor log>nearby ships

targetless plugin also tells NPCs/players/turrets distance,
Mobile players will always be at the mercy of PC players.

I knew that :) But he mentioned a log which shows where players jumped to. I cannot find that in the Sensor Log. :/

no,if you are within 1,000km of a player or npc,it will display the sector they jumped too in the chat.
