Hey guys,
just wondering if any of you invested in some kind special gear you use for VO? Like special keyboards, mice, joysticks?
I have a Madcatz V.7 Gaming Keyboard, which is illuminated and operates in two modes: game and normal. When in game mode, different parts of the KB can be illuminated in different colors. Plus, it has 12 extra keys (6 on each side) which can be assigned certain combinations or keystrokes.
So I configured the software for VO, and labeled the keys accordingly.
How about you guys? :)

Specifically for VO?

Edit: That's a Logitech G13 keypad and Extreme 3D Pro joystick.

I use to use a g13 myself. I have also used flight yokes and dpads. Currently I am using two sticks and My next thing is maybe a VR setup...
Don't forget one of these!
I have one of those. But it is not supported by the game. Neither is my Vax. No ports planned..
"No ports planned..."
Famous last words!

I used what ARF has for a while. I still use the G13, but have switched to the logitech g600 mouse. I'd highly recommend both.
OK abortretryfail.... I NEED IT :O
Would you recommend that thrustmaster joystick to other people, Arf? I have a mind to get one of those...
No port to the Vax? Awwww! Now I will never be able to Play VO at work.....
What Thrustmaster stick? The Logitech one I have is great for the price. I think i paid a paltry $30 for it last time.
There's much better stuff available if you're willing to spend more.

I've got a set of foot pedals I made that I use sometimes. Most of the time however, I use a keyboard and mouse, nothing fancy either.
In the past I've had good results with a mouse and joystick, had one with a hat which worked out well, using the main stick for strafe and the hat for throttle, the triggers for roll. U bolted the stick to the left arm rest of my chair, which was nice.

This is the only equipment I need...
I use the same joystick ARF posted (it isn't amazing or anything, but it's cheap and I prefer the way the buttons on the stick are laid out over most other designs), but for my left hand I use a Razer Nostromo instead of a Logitech G13:
I bought a G13 once, and I was really excited about it until it showed up. Unfortunately, I'd already used a Nostromo for too long and was unable to adapt to the way the G13's thumb-stick is oriented compared to the Nostromo's d-pad -- I kept pressing it in the wrong direction. I could have gotten used to it if I'd kept at it long enough, but I got annoyed and gave it to my brother instead. He took to it right away since he didn't have anything to unlearn. Objectively, the G13 is a better piece of hardware, so I'd recommend it for anybody who isn't already stuck in their ways. That said, the Nostromo is nearly as good, and it takes up a lot less desk space to boot.
The main advantage in using either of these rather than a keyboard is that they utilize your thumb a lot better. Instead of only comfortably reaching Alt and Spacebar, now it can reach the equivalent of six buttons (two real buttons and the d-pad or thumb-stick).

To be fair, I can reach a lot more with my thumb on a real keyboard. I can press Alt, X, C, V, B, N, M, Space, G, H, J.
All quite normally without much tension.
[edit]
If fact; if you cannot comfortably reach at least 6 keys on a keyboard with your thumb (while in the wasd position), your thumbs are dumb.

Im with Phaserlight. Same controller, too! Its excellent
How is the new Gear VR? Did you ever use an old one? Im interested in how they compare from someone who actually owns one (instead of a reviewer website)

Well, it's great. It has far exceeded my expectations. The phone does tend to overheat (S6), otherwise I have no complaints. I came in at the end of August, so I've only ever used the 2016 version.
Overall it feels like a very important step forward in computing. I love being able to pull on the goggles and have the room replaced by any number of digital spaces.

^ This here is a big deal. No matter what oddball controller you might decide to get for this game, it's going to take hours and hours of practice for you to get good using it.
I almost bought a Nostromo when one of the thumb-buttons on my G13 broke. Instead I ended up fixing it.
