Vendetta Online Newsletter: October 2016!
Hello Community!
The latest Vendetta Online Newsletter is out and can be viewed in the Web-Version here (in case you did not subscribe):
https://www.vendetta-online.com/newsletter/10.2016/newsletter.10.2016.html
This one is really cool and probably worth discussing. Apparently we will soon get a new vessel that will be mid-size between the Behemoth variant and the Trident Frigate: The Goliath!
The newsletter contains a cool picture of that upcoming ship and announced that this will undergo testing before we get to have it. So expect to see some Goliaths among the convoys soon. I'll sure crack one to look whats inside. ;-)
Otherwise the devs chose the mouth-watering strategy: Apart from the picture and the name and some basic information there are no details about the statistics or how it will be obtained. I could imagine that the Goliath is manufactured much like the Trident or the Centurion Superlight. But having the ability to buy multiple Goliaths at once for a high price at a station would be cool likewise!
Apart from that the devs also say that those who are waiting for the Trident Type S and P should not stop their hopes. They'll eventually come. I am really looking forward to those. Surely I am not the only player who made some preparations for them. They'd better come!
And there were also some VR updates.
All in all I think this is a really cool newsletter and definitely worth a read. It seems content is finally coming! Hooray.
Seriously. Nice job devs.

Hey that's pretty good.
Glad it's exciting :). This newsletter served a couple of purposes.. for starter, announcing the Goliath, which is something I had been hoping to do for awhile. Secondly, scheduling a test-event for a big cap battle (albeit mid-week, I don't expect a ton of people) to test out the server changes.
And lastly (and most significantly), to test our new email provider. The lack of newsletters this year was caused by our old provider suddenly raising their rates by a factor of 20, so we had to re-write our stuff to use Amazon SES (which is how this was sent). So this newsletter only went out to a small subset of our regular newsletter-list, for reasons of testing and establishing a deliverability/spam-report profile with Amazon. The next newsletter will be a bit more elaborate, and go out to the entire email list.
Anyway, glad it's well received. I'm really excited about this stuff too. Plus, the Goliath is Curt's first real piece of content that he's created on his own (albeit, with a number of feedback rounds and polish "notes" from me), so please give him kudos on a very cool new member of the VO ship family. We intend for this to be the first of many new or updated ships.

found out I had connection issues from a smoking router (!), installing a new one today; If I'm able to be online, ill try to show up for the battle.
congratz to the new newsletter provider.
indeed, kudos, Curt! the design of the goliath is wicked cool, and I cant wait till it becomes available to us players. I HAD been (slowly) working on collecting trident materials, but screw it - I want one of these instead.
In the picture, are we looking at the front or the back of the goliath?

It's the front. If you click on the picture, you get a better overall view of the ship.
Love the look of the Goliath. More ships are always welcome, and this would seem to fill in a gap between the Behemoth and Trident nicely.
I just hope that as a freighter, it actually has a decent-sized cargo hold. As a combat ship, the Trident gets a pass for having a relatively small cargo capacity for it's size; the Constellation, on the other hand... well, let's just say that 1500cu makes more sense for a 'light' freighter like the Goliath than a colossus like that.

Now you know I like that explosive decompression.
Fly by me, and splash me. Can you feel my heartbeat killing you?
My heart is beating boom boom bim bam bim boom boom boom,
When I see prey: boom boom bim bam bim boom boom.
Neutrons are singing boom boom bim bam bim boom boom boom,
I always pray for boom boom bim bam bim boom boom.

Looks good - I also saw the self defense stuff you added in tonights release - a very welcome and over due change.
I know we sometimes bitch a lot and sometimes its deserved but this is some good solid progress.
Thank you.

Form follows function. ;)
What's the specs on this thing? Cargo Capacity? Addon ports? Turret locations?

Will there be an insurance applicable?
Glad people like the look of it, and the scale :).
Yes, the outlined area is a docking bay (standard size, modeled after the Trident's).
I'm not giving out more requirement or specification detail at this time. It'll emerge in due course.

Excellent work, Curt! Ships in between frigate and fighter size are a much welcomed addition!
incarnate successfully dragged Eli back to VO, when can we expect to see some new information on this?
I'm rather looking forward to an almost dent to call my own.
