duel (character sharing scandal)
So I helped my brother set up everything, even to control his ship by showing him,Killing bots, trading, etc but not using his char to /duel or pvp anyone. am I in trouble for helping him? I sent a ticket in but no response so are me and LaZy in trouble for setting up our youth for vo?
Dead men tell no tales.
In my case I set the kids up a f2p account that way I could be in space with them, I really wouldn't stress much on it. I'm pretty sure your brother had his own account as well since he was your gunner a few times in NW.
But if your talking about him playing on your account and vice versa, it's probably not a good habit to get into since it is against the EULA of most games, but that isn't the spirit of this whole "scandal" so lets the devs deal with the stuff that really matters, relax, and go shoot things in space.
Also, have you ever been thanked for throwing someone under the bus before?

Heh. Technically this is not allowed by the EULA per my reading, but I don't think Inc will be knocking at your door. Especially since you gave up Lazy.
/me calls the cops
VO is a small community, I think we all know who this is all about. I think most of you are safe from the Raging John's wrath.
As for the known repeated offender.... he got away before with just a slap on the wrist for his fraudulent behavior, it will probably be the same this time too.

well they let you insult and personally attack people on here without any disciplinary consequences all the time bojan. imo thats far worse.
not to mention SKVs spybot who bypasses the force logout by undocking and exploding...

I will not dignify that with an answer, if you think I broke the EULA please feel free to report me ClarenceC.
no thanks. it is funnier to see you ramble.
in any case, i think this thread needs a lock. the question was answered by a guide. the rest is none of the playerbase' business. since the drama queen is back, things will just be blown out of proportion again. let those who were affected talk it out.

Lazy, I didn't know if I threw you under the bus or not but I was stressing on it.
I just wanted to know if we were in trouble, I made the account for my brother as did you for your kid. In any sense we don't collaborate on /dueling or hopping on my account.
Ps: sorry if I wronged you or "threw you under thebus" lazy, I liked your input.

Incorrect. That sort of thing is not tolerated. I recommend reviewing the locked/stickied thread above this one dated January 23rd, 2016 titled "Be Nice...".
Common sense would indicate helping your brother set up his account isn't the same thing as allowing a skilled veteran player to play in one's stead with the intention of artificially boosting one's duel ranking. I'm assuming you're not very familiar with dueling, but a high degree of skill is involved on which millisecond-order reaction differences can be the deciding factor between a win and a loss.
I find it's interesting that John goes on to explain in the news post that playing a "hustler" isn't against the rules, either (pretending to be less skilled than you actually are until a certain critical moment). However, allowing someone else to play in one's stead during a duel is... misguided.

Ok, that's all I wanted to know. The part
"Sharing an account, or individuals collaborating" left me worried and full of questions. Thanks phaser for answering my questions :)

you are always so fast asking "for a lock" when things are about you and your guildmates...
is this happening again?
it's been a while since i have seen NB playing... any guess about him?

who cares about his motivation? hes right. there is nothing official spare the statement from the devs on their stance towards certain behaviour. no names have been revealed for a reason.
the op asked if his personal case would get him in trouble. he was given answers by a guide which is sometimes as much as you can get in here. fair enough. if there is trouble anyway i'm sure the devs will contact Tripod privately.
like the devs will ever discuss this case in public. you're just looking to take out personal problems with an individual player into public. that's quite poor no matter who may have been involved and what has been done.
incarnate has stated multiple times he doesn't want that. see previous threads where this was done.

Basically, what Phaserlight said. (Locking).
