Warnings
1-A. Under ABSOLUTELY NO circumstances should you set your HOME STATION in gray space if you do go there. Should you choose to ignore this warning you will be killed by more experienced players mercilessly over and over, and be trapped in Grey Space without any means of escape. Your noobish frustrations, tears, and pleadings will be enjoyed by many until you rage-quit.

Thanks for this!
I had been thinking about making a video for people who just skip through the first three tutorials or want to just go straight to grey because they hear it's lawless or they can equip better equipment there.
So having to not completely write a format for it is nice.

Worth pointing out that you don't get Escort missions until combat level 3
I agree, it's helpful.
There was actually a similar PCC project at one point, to create a simple newbie-guide that would be relatively short (a couple pages at most), with images and such, that I could actually make into a main website page, and then translate / localize into as many languages as possible.
That would still be a pretty useful thing today.

From FAMY's "Pirate 101" course material, The YT-1300 Ten-Step Method of Getting Home
What to do if you find yourself homed in Greyspace at a Corvus station (this can happen if you accidentally shoot someone in your home nation's NFZ or if you failed to read the advice above):
1. buy the fastest ship you can get. assume a pirate or griefer is waiting for you to launch. (centurian is a pretty fast ship even with a freepower cell, but get the best power cell you can)
2. Set your nav-route to a non-Corvus station like Odia H-6 or Odia C-2 (or Sedina L-2 if in Sedina... etc.)
3. Launch and head away from the station at top speed. Assume the pirate/griefer will catch you and explode you. If he/she doesn't get you, jump to the non-Corvus station. But, if you 'splode -don't sweat it. Immediately buy back the last ship at the prompt and launch again. This time...
4. ... head away from the station in the other direction at top speed. Jump to the non-Corvus sector. The pirate/griefer will still be headed back to the station from where he/she killed you if you're lucky.
5. Once you get to the non-Corvus station, dock and set it as your home station.
6. Launch with either the cheap centurian or a free EC with a government blaster.
7. Shoot the guard. Just once.
8. Wait for it...
9. You'll be destroyed by the guards. Don't sweat it.
10. You'll be back in your home-nation when you respawn (assuming you're not permanently KOS there)
