Depending on how it was broken, it might help to write a letter to Amazon from a loyal and loving user. My daughter is on her 2nd free Kindle due to battery issues.

OK keep it brief and mention how much you love your Kindle, what you love about it, the excellent Amazon customer service and the build quality of the Kindle. Then gently suggest that perhaps your kindle didn't last as long as those of your friends/parents/etc. and is there some way to get this one fixed or possibly replaced with a refurb? Perhaps you're a starving student on a limited income. They are actually pretty cool about this, particularly if you are buying content.

Make sure you end each sentence in your letter with rar. It's helped everyone here take you so seriously, no doubt it'll ensure a fantastic response from Amazon.
