>If anything, the recent surge in shop bots illustrates that there is a demand for offline sales of goods n some manner. It's been suggested multiple times before that it should be possible for players to post items for sale at stations, amongst many other similar suggestions. I would rather see this sort of feature added and the shop bots made obsolete than see more of them spring up polluting the chat space, since no one can agree to use a different channel for their shop spam.
Exactly this. Over and over and over again this!

I understand spam can be annoying, but one can always /ignore and I do like the idea of shop bots. I'd rather the game do more to support them -- maybe introduce some new feature to actually register them and provide a commercial area in which they can broadcast their advertisements.

I VEHEMENTLY oppose this idea.
Bots force server instances to keep running, costing the devs more money and overhead than it should. It's also a splitting headache for players to customize and maintain their bots.
Instead of clunky, rickety plugin bots giving literally everyone panties in a bunch, it's better to have a system built into the game where people can make offline private sales at a particular station or two. PRECISELY just like what savet pointed out above.

Surprising no one, lol.

JJ is being dramatic, but he's not wrong. Bots are also not great for the environment, since they require people to leave their computers running 24/7 to host them.
I do really like that bot shops are possible though. They're a fun interim solution.

Kill All Shop Bots, Ban Their Makers
As the owner of 4 shops 3 of which are geared specifically at new players I make sure that they only broadcast in system chat. In addition to just saying come buy here they offer basic tips for new players, fir example how to get the Revenant. I run them in light subs so they are logged off when I don’t enter the capatcha thus limiting how long they keep sectors active.
The 4th shop does broadcast 100 but only at 30 minute intervals.
I’m sorry if some of you don’t like them, but there is enough demand that they all 4 turn a small profit regularly.

Does the small profits that they generate help make up for your electricity bills, wash??

The shop bot in Dau does provide helpful information on grinding licenses.
I don't see an issue with them if they are being run by experienced players, who themselves coded the bot and have enough equipment and items stockpiled to make automated selling viable. The issue would be noobs that want one for fun and create a ruckus about how some players, who worked hard to make one, have a bot and they don't.
I don't see a need for an offline trading system, that just reduces player interaction. Also it borders on a suggestion made earlier for a proper station trading system, which mostly received - 1s.

I can't speak for Wash, but my shopbot runs on a mobile phone (That i keep in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.)

Isn't that what the clunky rickety shop bots are doing anyway, reducing direct player interaction?

Oh so Knauf DOES watch my forum bullshit.
Well i'm quitting.

Bots are for lazy people. Shop bots turn new players into entitled space millennials. tsreknor is also a lazy bot user that doesn't like interacting in the game. Ban them and burn them.
